.........and who doesn't like to be named.. Sorry just had to throw that in there.. Ive done a few gigs for them.. but to be fair at least with RE and REACT places like that you know what your getting. I HATE TNS sassie when your waiting to be accepted (or like me been told you got the jobs rearrage a whole week then be told.. oh wait we decided to go elsewhere).

FFF is a drag sometimes but again you know what your getting.

I agree that I'm a fan of FFF just because it's so clear cut.

I've gone away from the likes of BARE, react and amber arch cause I hate applying and not knowing if I've got it until the last minute especially because they have the ability to make it FFF. But on the other hand I've just started working for a few "smaller" less talked about companies and they tend to allocate via email. It takes a bit of getting used to but the work is generally a bit nicer. With the company we're chatting about they are usually quite quick to tell you if you have the work or not and I've really relied on the regular work to keep me afloat when MSing has been down.

I agree, I never even look at BARE or Amber Arch now, however, I have a good relationship with REACT and don't seem to have to wait too long before jobs are allocated.

I really like Assosia (there, I said it), you can talk to the allocator, the reports are good, fees not great but you can quite often get a little circuit together which makes it worthwhile. More importantly, as with Lil_Me, I have regular work from them regardless of what is on offer from other companies, and it pays the bills.
  • I hate FFF when it comes to RE as they seem to do an upload of jobs after midnight on most occasions when I'm tucked up in bed. I loved the purchase jobs for the company which cannot be named, as the reports take little time to write up unlike RE's reports which ask for duplicate information on numerous occasions and require a lot of answers for a pittance of a fee. Grassroots and React are two of my favourites, no complaints there.

  • We all seem to have our favourite companies to work for (and those that we only prod lightly with a barge pole when times get really tough).

What I will say is that even the best of companies can be fickle.

Some months ago, one (good) company emailed me offering me a nice run of audit work, but stated in the offer email that it could only be accepted on the basis that the auditor undertook to complete the whole run (and it was a long run). I checked my diary, ensuring that I could meet their objectives, and emailed back. The company responded, saying that they had already allocated to another auditor, but (wait for this ......) could I fill in for this other auditor when they were on holiday. Guess what I said! I pointed out that I had applied in compliance with their requirements, but they had disregarded these requirements when they allocated (so, "NO, I WILL NOT PICK UP THE DREGS"). The company representative apologised, saying that one of his colleagues had allocated to the first responder. Some weeks later, the company came back to me and offered me the remainder of the audit run. Guess what I said! I emailed them drawing their attention to the terms of their original offer, and my initial application (so, "YES, BUT PAY ME FOR MY RELIABILITY"). It would have been cheaper for them in the long run if they had given me the work originally.

I meant to mention earlier but forgot. I got a call off GFK today asking if I could do an urgent job, unfortunately I mentioned that I do audits in the same shop so the chap who rang said I wasn't eligible after all. But what was really nice, was that he asked how the audits were going, how did I enjoy them, etc, and thanked me for all my hard work. TBH, it might just be something small, but I thought that was really nice. When I've had calls from other companies, and I've said 'I can't because of xxxx', all I've had is 'ok then, bye'.

    Full marks to GFK :D
Moving onto a better place...Ciao
  • why do grass roots clothes stores say you much purchase something to the minimum of "£blah blah" when they dont even see the receipt and say you can take your item back :S
