There a lot of things that exist without the necessity of giving internet links about them on internet forums ... if you don't believe me or you don't understand the idea in my post above ... or if you don't want to understand it ... this is your choice ... I don't mind ...0 -

ummmm thanks for that. Didn't realise it was so widespread!
Still, it won't affect the wife and I as we have no intention of going through that scenario again. So on the bright side, we have already done our bit to help towards the economy drive!!! LOL0 -

What you posted seem to be an opinion though. There's around 0.5% fraudulant claims per year or something.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

It is not an opinion but just common sense and pure logic ... try to calculate what is cheaper a prisoner or someone on ESA or DLA ...
Regarding the official figures it is just propaganda ... crime is an all times low this year hahahaha ... official figures again ... do they think we are blind or stupid ... they just do not record a lot of crimes ...0 -
I suppose the percentage of fraudulent claims depends on the definition of fraudulent regarding DLA etc - yes a claim form full of 100% sheer fabrication claiming to have an illness when you dont - may accounnt for a small percentage.
However, the percentage of 'fraudulent' claims would no doubt skyrocket if it included every single exaggeration about 'how many times you need help in the night' or 'how far you you walk with severe pain'.........etc etc. By adding just a metre in distance or one more night assistance would render it 'fraudulent'.
I bet the percentage would be more than 0.5% if you included all of these.
Oh i am so glad i am not the one having to sort out the DWP !0 -
I have been very saddened by many of the remarks on this topic, people saying they can manage on this amount of money and other's saying they can do this or that on that benefit, every persons situation is different, those people who say they would never claim this or that benefit I don't believe for one minute, it's easy to say things on a forum but in the real world it is totally different.
For those people who feel agrieved in some way because one person get's this or that benefit should really think hard before condeming other's, your life could change drastically in the blink of an eye so don't rule out anything, just because your life is fine at the moment things could change and then you may not be so high and mighty in your condemnations of other's...0 -

It is an opinion. How is it logic that according to you, many people are defrauding the system?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Yes i agree - its all very well having 'priniples' that stop you from claiming - but i can tell you that if my kids were hungry or cold - i would lick the roads clean if it meant they could be fed and warm and would claim whatever i could to help them - i certainly wouldnt have any problem with pride and i hope that i never am in that situation to find out.
Like the above poster said - its all very well talking about it hypothetically - but none of us knows whats round the corner and never say never !!!!0 -
andyandflo wrote: »There isn't any - well to me there isn't. It is no different than claiming JSA. There are so many claiming ESA or IB, it just doesn't feel like I am being labelled as DLA does.
Just thought of something that might help. There is one other benefit that I would flatly refuse to sign up for - Income Support!
I would do anything or anything in order not to claim that. Only once have I been in a Jobcentre - I have never seen so many people that look dejected and forlorn. Waiting for that giro every week. Shouting, swearing at young girls. Like a cattle market. I would find a way of supporting myself.
pension credit is income support for pensioners, so you are claiming income support, so you are going to cancel your claim then because you refuse to claim it:rotfl:andyandflo wrote: »Hi,
Many live on JSA of £65.45pw others manage on ESA of £65.45pw.
We as a couple lived on my ESA of £65.45pw. On top of that there is no Council Tax to pay, and now that we have just lost our home (couldn't afford the mortgage) we don't pay rent either.
We now get Pension Credit and to be honest, we can actually save out of it!
With careful management it can be done - there are many that do!0
