TBH I'm horrified that Pets at Home think it's ok to give dogs toys with batteries.
They have been around for years. It does tell you on the toy that supervision is required, and in fairness the battery compartment is buried deep within the toy so a lot of shredding would have to occur before the dog got to the battery compartment. If the animal was being supervised as per instructions this would be spotted. I don't think its something to be horrified at. My two dogs had a duck that did the same a few years ago, they loved it and only lost interest when the battery went. It wasn't something that was left unsupervised with them and only came out to play in the evening for an hour.
Battery toys for animals are not unusual and perfectly safe if used according to instructions.0 -
i always buy noisy toys as terriers like the squeak etc,hes not interested in it if it doesnt make a noise.and i wouldnt buy anything i wouldnt be happy to leave him with.most of his toys are in a plastic box in my utility room,as i said we only give him one at a time.if i leave him with something unsupervised its usually his babble ball or a grunty pig thing he loves.nothing in them could harm him.Shine on you crazy diamond..............0

sorry:o!! does my head in people slating you, must be great to be perfect and do nothing wrong.we all make mistakes in life.i bought something listed as a dog toy.i did actually ask OH to get the scissors to cut the fluff off the toy but the dog wouldnt drop it.i have cut the toy open and the batteries were in a box 2 inches square which needs a screwdriver to open.as you said originally it was probably a kids toy and kids toys are mostly safe.Shine on you crazy diamond..............0

Out of interest, is there a makers name on the voicebox of the toy? It would be interesting to see...
The seller is rather lucky she only sold the one, marketing something which clearly isn't as a dog toy could have left her open to being sued, probably why she took the auction down quickly.
Don't beat yourself up about it, no harm was done in the end. Have you left feedback for the seller? If you have it may be an idea to add a follow up comment, something calm and factual along the lines of "Toy not suitable for animals, serious choking hazard" just in case she decides to sell them again when this dies down.0 -
there wasnt any label on it.i asked her for the info off it as the ones in the pic did and she said it wasnt her pic.she reackons she has been scammed aswell as she bought them as pet toys.havent neg'd her.i just said to her what you said, she was lucky it wasnt more serious.i dont believe her tbh but no point pushing it really.obviosly there is a reason the labels have been removed.just teaches me to buy from pet stores not ebay.btw munch has just come home from dog groomer looking stunning, sparkley white.now writhing on his back in the garden, little horror:D.Shine on you crazy diamond..............0
