Cat has a large nasty cut but worried about vet bills

steven, hope he is back soon - probably just gone off for a sulk cos you had the audacity to take him to the vets!0

Steven, I'm so glad to hear you managed to get him to the vet and everything worked out cash-wise (just!). I've been there in the past. There's no worse feeling of panic than when you need to get an animal to a vet and can't. Whether it be cashflow issues, lack of transport - whatever, it's a horrible feeling.
I hope you're little lad is starting to feel better now bless him."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

He got outside about half an hour after we got back home.
Haven't seen him since. He's not in his usual spot of under a hedge. Looked all around with a torch and no sign.
Its normal for cats to do this when they're sick tho, isn't it?
It's normal for Cat owners to keep cats in for a few days if they have an infected abscess to stop anything else happening and it getting worse.0 -
No please do not try that number.
That number is clearly for reporting serious and immediate cases of animal cruelty. Calling that number and saying "my cat has got a cut, boohoo" is just wasting their time.
[EDIT] I see the issue is resolved now, but still, that was poor advice from mozzyc.
Well i'm very sorry, but i didn't realise that. It did say emergency help and the OP did say the cut was deep and bleeding rather badly. Really no need for pointing fingers, was just a very concerned fellow pet owner.DFD February 2012

Has he returned home yet? I must admit, when i return home from the vets, my boy, Buddy, stays outside away from me for a bit. Hopefully once he's settled, he'll come back in. If anything, for food.DFD February 2012

Insurance is great but don't you still have to pay upfront and then claim it back? I know I did when my cat had an injury. £400 straight to credit card and then had to wait for them to send a cheque.
I think Petplan which my vet uses may just be dealt with directly?Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
