Today I only bought some milk from Iceland and shopped from my freezer for my dinner tonight I am trying to use up as much food stuff as I can before my holiday so I had a small piece of steak with a couple of rashers of bacon and some rather wrinkled mushrooms and red peppers.I cooked them all in the skillet and found some mashed potao in the freezer which I defrosted and then browned off in the remoska .My fridge is now empty of most of the veg apart from some small plum tomatoes and half a lettuce and some cucumber .tomorrow I will dig out some chicken breasts as I have half a tub of philly to use up and will wrap some bacon around them and stuff with the soft cheese then wrap in foil and bake in my remoska.I love making meals out of what's in the fridge as it helps to streeetch the food budget out a bit.
I am out to lunch with my craft club tomorrow but hopefully I won't spend a great deal in the craft centre that we visit now and again. My cake tins are empty so i will be baking again on Wednesday as my DGC can make a HM cake vanish in nanoseconds.Great to see so many new folk posting, Downsizer I am the wonky side of 65 so the age range on here is quite a big one but we are all quite a firndly bunch .

I had a NSD today :j a colleague very kindly baked a mountain of biscuits so I only ate half my packed lunch today and saved the rest for tomorrow - filled myself up eating the cookies (4... whoops!) which were gorgeous. Now i just need to take something small to bulk my lunch up tomorrow and I've had an almost bogof lunch.

Went to my parents for dinner so that saved eating our food, and I thought there was barely any food but I've done a meal plan and other than some veg and dairy top up shops I've got 3 weeks worth of meals planned. Nice to feel a bit more positive this evening about things :)

Hey everyone I hope you're all well :)

I've had £35 worth of vouchers through the door for farmfoods (have to spend £50 or over) so I'm getting my best mate to take me up soon :D can't beat £50 worth of shopping for £15! :j

Nothing much else to add really. I've not had a chance to check on the blackberry bush as it's been raining all day :(

The kittens are growing too fast. They're 5 weeks old tomorrow!

    This is Cassie/Cassandra. My bi-eyed girl :)

    Well,
I'm just back after being away with the army (TA) for a couple weeks, working with the ACF on their annual camp. After the excersise,I scooped up quite a few uneaten ration pack menus including the tubes of jam, marmite & little bottles of Tabasco not to mention the brew kits that were going to be thrown away.
I also got a few tins of the Mushroom spread & Herb spread. These being made by a French company. These I shall use for sauces thinned down with a little cream.
The rations are always handy in a power cut and I keep a set in the car in case of emergencies as they can be eaten cold.

I have a few of these tins. I use 2 or 3 when I'm doing a big batch of chili con carne :D

I notice a few people want to knit sew & crochet, try Youtube, there are loads of videos on there that show you how. Or see if there is an MSE'er near you who will show you the basics, I know I'd love to share my knowledge but no one is interested.
Jam jars, I save all mine throughout the year, plus beg borrow & steal from friends & family. As I make jam, chutney, lemon curd etc to go in gift hampers I use smaller jars, mint sauce ones etc. I also ask people to return the jars from the hampers once they are empty.
