  • I think they say something like 12 a day in Japan! The focus though should be more on veggies than fruit and as many different colours and varieties as possible to get the most variety of nutrients. I don't eat much fruit (I like it but find it quite expensive sometimes) but do eat a lot of veggies. I think they're just trying to push people away from chips and greasy junk and towards fruit and veg which you do need to eat in some form.

Our house is being inspected tomorrow (it was supposed to be Monday but they cancelled) so I must do another check that everything is tidy and sorted tonight. Annoyingly I'll have to have washing out as the laundry basket is full, I'd hoped not to have my knickers out on display whilst they're inspecting but looks like I don't have much choice as things need to be washed!!

  • I am chuffed. I popped into Poundland to buy a small microwave container (for small snacks of popcorn) & a notebook. While I was in there I also picked up some more microfibre cloths to use as nappy boosters, a wipe-clean bib for when DS starts weaning and, one of those things a baby can grab that has a mesh bag for chewing food through. I'd seen them on Amazon and they are around £10, so I was very happy to find one for £1. :)

For those of your after washing liquid or softener there is currently an excellent offer at Sainsburys. I found the info on the grabbit board and now have spend the grand sum of £20 and I have got 4x Fairy Non-bio liquid gel, 4x Ariel Actilift, 4x Fairy softener. Hopefully will be able to get a few more as I still have loads of coupons.

    Here is the deal:

Sainsburys have Ariel and Fairy products on offer, for instance Fairy non bio gel normally £8, now half price. Same for the Ariel...

That in itself is a good deal I think at half price... but... for every £10 spent on the various products you receive a £5 voucher. This voucher actually comes in the form of two £2.50 vouchers.

One is for £2.50 off of any Ariel and the other for any Fairy.... So I went straight back round and picked up another 3 x Fairy Gel and 1 x Ariel Gel, bring the cost to £11 and you guessed it another two vouchers. You could carry this method on until a. you run out money b.they run out of stock!! Alternatively when you've brought enough... your last two purchases will be one of each at the cost of £1.50 each RRP £8 each.... Thats a massive saving

First you have to spend £10:

I got the fairy non biological box (80 washes for £10) this gave me a £2.50 voucher for fairy and a £2.50 for Ariel.

    Next time I got:
    1x Fairy gel - Reduced to £4 from £8
    1x Ariel - Reduced to £4 from £8
1x Fairy conditioner - £2 (large one) Total: £10 but with vouchers £5.

There are other things you can get such as pampers, head and shoulders but I'm stockpiling the laundary stuff.

    I hope this makes sense

    Hi Jedi,

Is this coupon issued by the cashier or is it a till spit? Thanks for the heads up, sounds like a great offer.

The dentist told my son it was too many oranges and fruit that was causing his decay. Also went through a phase of smoothies every night and she said that wasn't good at the next visit. think it is suppose to be more veg than fruit actually. Think I saw that somewhere. I suppose that people had lots of veg in the war years as they grew their own and very little of anything else about. So probably got five a day like that. Think I heard it was nine a day in America but they didn't think they could get that over here so stuck at five.

I think quite a few countries say you should have more than 5-a-day (even here they say it's an absolute minimum).

I personally think it's good that the government are "interfering" in this particular issue - if it helps a generation of kids not be quite as obese and unhealthy (and as much of a drain on the NHS) as they might otherwise be, then that's great!

It's just a shame that people pick and choose what they listen to - i.e. thinking it's ok to replace a balanced diet including F&V with gallons of fruit juice, when it clearly states on the 5-a-day website that fruit juices only count as one portion per day.

It is a till spit but you must spend £10 on one of the brands to get it - Fairy, Ariel, Pampers, Head & shoulders.

  • my boys have 200ml of fruit juice each day, they probably dont have 5 a day, even though I try, I blend corgette into sauces etc.

Our dentist said they have to drink fruit juice with a straw due to decay - our GP said if you suffer from decay it will happen regardless as everyones teeth are different some are stronger than others. My nephews have had dentral treatment for years as they have never had full enamel on their teeth.

The boys still take vits daily due to being born prematurely, I dont think you can win, if you eat a good diet then hopefully you will get enough nuitrients from it.

Been the co op to use the cash machine to pay for DS1 school trip and needed change so popped in, got 2 punnets of nectarines, bag of heritage apples and a plate apple pie from the bakery for £1.50 in total. Im very chuffed we never get reduced stuff as we shop on line, 6.30pm is obviously a good time to visit!

Might be losing a week's JSA - I was so upset about having Deirdre Hen put to sleep on Wednesday that everything went out of my head and I didn't attend an advice interview at the job centre . I wasn't signing on - that's this Friday. I wouldn't care but the adviser has already admitted there's nothing the Job Centre can do for me because I'm qualifed to Masters level. Seems like there's no room for mistakes in the system.

I have some savings so it won't be too hard, but it will still be felt. I have explained why I didn't attend but it has to go to a decision-maker. I hope they are an animal lover and understand that a pet is a member of the family.

I went in co-op this tea time but nothing reduced at all. Don't go very often but was passing so thought would pop in. Never seem to have much reduced in any of the supermarkets near us.
