  • I have just spotted a cherry tree in a public park near our house. I have lived here 9 years and never seen it before but it is a big tree so must have been here a while!
I am going to send both DD's over there tonight once they come home from school as cherries are getting really expensive again.

 Sammy great to hear your news :D

I have timetables everywhere but have yet to stick to one :rotfl:

Does give you a rough plan for the day though so they do help... I suppose *she says trying to sound vaguely organised [STRIKE]and failing dismally[/STRIKE]*:o

Well - even if thats the case, it begs the question of:
    - tax credits are about to be cut
    - its far preferable for income to be "salary" rather than "tax credits". Its preferable for income to be "salary" - rather than anything else and anything else means all sorts of hassle form-filling etc to get it.
    - pension isnt payable on "tax credits" - it is on "salary".

Sorry to hear your news - and the ignorant response you got from your employer. I expect a lot of people are hearing/will hear such ignorant comments - the managers will have been told a variety of responses (incuding this one) as to what to say if people protest. At least you DID say something - a lot of people would just look upset and say nowt!

Sorry to hear your news - but stick around here and you'll pick up lots of O.S. hints on how to manage on lower money.

I can appeal against it but dont think I will get anywhere. One person I work with will have a drop in salary of £8,000!! I can start the appeal process in Oct. Like you say though it will affect my pension. Luckily Im good with money and do a lot of OS anyway, cook from scratch etc. The director could end up redundant as I work in equalities which I think will be cut a lot.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round
  • Dixie the cat is a little better, so rang vet and picked up tablets (OH will have fun getting them down her neck!). Hopefully its not an arhritus (dont know how to spell) infection in her hips as it means that every week she would need the injections and she would b in pain. We had her nearly 10 years from the RSPCA and she had had her pelvis repaired as some horrible piece of work had broken her leg/pelvis by booting her. Scummy people.

Bought boys school coats and shoes today. Shoes in diecman shoes buy one pair get one pair half price. Coats in TK Maxx, some ski brand, waterproof and padded only £15 .99 each - half the price of millets. Still had to use credit card as hadnt budgeted properly.

were slowly starting to stockpile, last month I ran out of pasta and rice, I was mortified, I just hadnt been shopping properly and the boys were ill, OH at work so going the shops was hard work. We were talking about the snow today (boys asking as we bought ski style coats) and we both looked at each other and said must buy more salt before the stores run out the week before snow forecast! This year I vow to be better prepared.

We got free eggs yesterday from DH's colleague whose chucks laid more than they could eat, 5 of them in total and they look like they'll be lovely :D I was delighted as free-range eggs are something I wont compromise on, I'd rather go without so getting some free free-range eggs was extra lovely for us.

  • Lindy - Loo - I used to work with Cats Protection and have given pills and potions to many, many cats. Here's how to do it:

    * Crush pill.
    * Mix powder with a little Dairylea (supermarket own-brand is fine)
    * Offer to cat on your finger. Usually the cat will lick it off. If not, smear the paste on an easy-to-reach bit of fur and leave the cat to wash off.

Pills can also be crushed and mixed into a paste of water and tuna paste then sucked into a syringe (no needle!) and squirted into the cat's mouth if it's too sick to eat/wash. There's a knack to doing this but it's not hard.

Have fun and let me know how you get on.

  • Hello all...

Yesterday was a very busy and very tiring day driving all over England. We drove from Nottingham to Wiltshire (to get Mum clean clothes and some other bits) and then Wiltshire to London (to deliver them). We had to stay in a hotel overnight (because we had done 8 hours driving at that point) and we were exhausted. I do not want to add up how much that visit cost us,:eek: but I am so glad we did it.

I saw Dad in the hospital yesterday and I was so upset when I saw him. He was very confused and not really aware of where he was or anything. But today, the news is better. He has encephalitis (we thought it was meningitis yesterday!) and although it is serious, it is not as serious. The prognosis is good. But it could take up to 3 weeks to get better. I don't care, as long as I get the bad tempered old git I know as my Dad back. :)

Thanks for all your support and good wishes; they have meant a lot to me and my family.
