Hello everyone, well today I have upped my hours at work from 13 to 18 and managed to change them to 3x 9-3 shifts. :j:j:j. I now don't have to worry about childcare during term-time. The downside is I start the extra hours from this week and have been unable to wangle just doing 2 days for the week that BH falls in, which would have meant I got a week off without using any hols. However since it had just been agreed that I could do the hours I wanted, I wasn't going to push the boat. MIL is stepping in to help out and hubby working from home an extra day.0

Yes, its nice to get down to floor level because people in chairs get tired of constantly tilting their heads to look upwards. But if I tried it nowadays I'd end up being lifted up and sitting on their knee !
Mardatha, not only can you sit on my knee, I'll give you a lift on the back of my scooter when I get it!0 -
Just got back from the dentist after having root canal. My mouth is very sore and the gums are a little swollen. My lovely in-laws came down to babysit as we've no-one here to help with these things. They live over an hour away but insisted on coming down so my hubby didn't have to take a half day holiday. When I got back they had done all my washing up, put my laundary out, put another load of clothes in the washhing machine and weeded my garden. They really are angels. :A My mother-in-law had also baked us a blackberry crumble and made some homemade custard to go with it.
I was also very pleased with myself as I went to Tesco on Saturday and as luck would have it they were reducing items in the chiller section. There was a huge crowd all pushing and shoving so I thought I wouldn't stand a chance. However, the guy doing the price reductions so me looking and asked if I wanted some reduced chicken and pork. He then passed me over the finest medalions of pork reduced to 75p, 2 packs of Willow Chicken reduced to 80p each and some chhicken breast reduced to 76p. He then advised me to go over to the veg section where I picked up a fresh cauliflower for 20p, egg noodles for 10p, beansprouts for 10p and carrots for 10p. Very happy as this has now turned into four meals and right now I have my slow cooker on with the last of the chicken. :T'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. My mum and dad have both remarried so me and my DH have 3 sets of parentsthat all live only 20 mins away......they only come round if invited and only stay as long as they really have to and in 12 years they have only babysat approx 3 times between them. When my DD's were babies i really needed help as i found it hard but i never got any help.
I am so jealous that you have family that take care of you like this...you really must treasure them, you are so lucky0 -

I do realise how lucky I am. However, I did have to wait a while to have the 'special' relationship someone has with parents. My upbringing was not conventional. My father disappeared when I was 11 and my mother is shall we say very non-caring and self centred. If it wasn't for my grandparents I dare say we would have been in care. It was really brought home to me when I had my daughter just how much I had missed in having a proper mother and my lovely mother-in-law just stepped in. I love my grandmother very much and she has been more of a mum to me than anyone but she is in her 80's and couldn't offer the support a new mum needs. Families are funny things - you have no choice who you get.'Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.'

It is a very early start I must admit; on Sunday we got there at 6am and there were easily over 100 cars already there, first person had apparently got there at 4am. :eek:0

Taplady, outside my door there is 12 miles of main road one way to the next village - or 15 miles the other way
There is also the back road for 20 miles through empty hills to a small town with an (sigh) Ice Cream Shop !.. I think I need a jet engine on the chair !
:rotfl::D am imagining it now - you and your pimped up wheelchair with turbo power zooming up the country lanes!;)Do what you love :happyhear0 -
