Thanks Mrs S - I've just had a phone call offering me a part time job (which fits in perfectly with my ft one)......so, swings and roundabouts today.

Part of it will be demonstrating foody stuff in M & S sometimes so you never know maybe my "can i interest you in a nibble, sir?" line might work lol.....:rotfl:

Our local m&S used to do samples on a Saturday and they were great. I hope this means they are coming back.

What type of toilet rolls does everyone buy - I know, exciting topic-not! But was just wondering as I get the basics but wonder if it is false economy although even if I buy more expensive they don't seem to last any longer. Don't think that stockpiling on a years supply of basic toilet rolls is going to save much on vat. In my case maybe £1.00.

No vat on most of the food that we are likely to stockpile, rice, pasta, tinned stuff so no saving on the vat there though at the price everything is going up theres no guessing what we could save on the normal rises. Wish I had had a large stock of rice and pasta a couple of years ago, can't believe how much they have already gone up since then.

Well - I buy Andrex - but before anyone shoots me down in flames I only buy them when they are on offer and less than 35 pence each. For example, have just stocked up on two packs of 9 rolls each from Tesco for £6 - that is 33.3 pence a roll. I will not buy unless they are 35 pence a roll or less so these met that criterion. On each occasion I buy enough (hopefully) until the next offer - haven't (and wouldn't) pay the full price for years. I've tried the cheaper brands and found they are thinner or don't last as long so are a false economy.

I buy coffee, soap powder, kitchen towel etc using the same method - when they are a certain price per unit or below I buy them - has worked so far

Yes, I think it does as the company covers the whole of Scotland. Will find out more on Saturday and let you know.

Sorry to hear about your doggie 365, hope he's feeling better soon. I picked up my Child Benefit this morning and was all set to go and get the school shoes. This can be quite expensive as I insist on getting them 'good' shoes (much to the disgust of eldest DD!!) However, eldest who has jet-black hair decided to dye her her Blonde!!! She looks like a tiger with pure blonde roots, orange and then reddish stripes!! Am so mad. Made her strip the beds and put them into wash, hang them up and hoover the stairs before I would bring her to hairdresser. She's there now looking a bit dejected, especially as the hairdresser killed herself laughing!!! God knows how much it's gonna cost as the girl has had to mix 3 dyes together to get a colour to try and cover it all!! She may just get her wish and get a pair of black 4.00 shoes from Primark!!

Been there done that with DD :D Thankfully it only happened the once.

I buy Lidl recycled loo rolls - about £1.40 for 10. They are quite thin, but we find that our drains block easily with the thicker ones. I like the fact that they are made from recycled paper too.

On the toilet roll front, we use either the Lidl ones with the pretty pink flowers on (think they are 4-ply) or the Aldi aloe vera ones. Both brands are good quality - and both cheap. My favourite combination!

I've just done myself a chart to put by the toilet to see how many sheets people are using:rotfl:Is this taking it a bit too far??

Matalan are pretty good for t-shirts

Got to laugh at that one. Don't think they'd go for that here.

We went tonight to Lidi for the 1st ever time and I wasnt impressed. I thought most of the food was very expensive. I guess where I am (Leics) were used to many different shops with offers in so I get to choose what I want. The frozen chicken breasts I found good value but just about everything else I thought was quite deer. I used the save £5 when you spend £30 which did help matters. Im well stocke don frozen veg now as I needed to make the spend up

Its not the thickness of the toilet rolls that bothers me its how fast they disappear into different rooms in the house, Dh uses them when he is making models and Dd just uses 'em for god knows what so I have to go and play hunt the boggy. Last week Dd was going mad as we had nearly run out and it was 6 am before she noticed the problem - I just went off round the house and pulled 4 rolls from various places - crisis averted!

You lucky thing prudent - free gig tickets and Rod Stewart !!! I haven't seen him since 1974 - probably before you were born :rotfl:Mind you I have noticed a lot of rock stars are getting very old - Dh just rolls his eyes when i comment on that, don't know why Im only...............
