    OP was asked to provide router statistics, I missed the bit about ethernet problems, if you can't talk to the router then as you point out the problem is nothing to do with the exchange or the line.
    Sounds as if the router may be lying flat and overheating , then are better standing vertically, and yes is the router black or white?

    It would help if you could be more specific, which light, which router, 4th button doesn't tell us much. How are you connected, ethernet or wireless, does the router power cycle?

    The dobi doobis suggests the router may be power cycling, or you have an ethernet problem, in which case it may have nothing to do with the telephone cable or exchange.

    Black jobby laid down, has been for years. 4th light from left when Sky on front does read Sky, ;).

    Wired ans wireless, wireless defeated at present, but neither work.

    Has been dead for last hour.

    Oh, when I did try to do an adsl or whatever speed check myself the system did not recognise/accecpt my tel??? No

    Yes reset thing in back reset, many times.

    Ny sil works directly for Dell, he can have this one ;)

    Check out my 1st post, I don't know my ethernet from my **sehole:DEdited to add;

    when I did try to do as advised including an asdl?? speed check, the system would not recognise my Tel number.
    Is there an over top of my head emoticon?
    I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

    Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

    You really should have the router vertical, on the stand it was supplied with. Anyhoo it does sound like it has died.
    Get on to Sky and they should send you a new one.
    You should attempt to log on to the router as previous post, they will need you to do this when you ring.

    Still wasn't working late yesterday, but all fine this morning, (touch wood).

    Router now stood vertical as advised and at present plugged direct into the master socket without the "front face" on.

    Hard to be conclusive yet, thanks all for the advice :T

    Router statistics?

    Click on this:-

    http://192.168.0.1/sky_router_status.html

    Username admin
    Password sky

    Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on

    SHOW STATISTICS

    Copy and paste this section:-
    ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
    Connection Speed 8328 kbps 831 kbps
    Line Attenuation 47.0 db 25.2 db
    Noise Margin 6.7 db 8.5 db

    Formatting could be screwed but don't worry but we can understand it.

    So you got to the log on screen?
    User = admin
    Password = sky

    Odd, could someone else have changed the password?

    It could be a recovered router,the was this problem when I worked for Tier 2/TSG.
    OP,
    You really need to get put thru to the old Tier 2/TSG (where I used to work) in the Sky BBand support.When the Tier 1 raise a fault for you,you should have been given a 'fault id' & put thru to TSG (Or whatever they call themselves now,I left shortly after we merged with the old Tier 3) who can diagnose your line & conection & also test the line useing online BT systems.That is something the Tier 1 do NOT have access to,all their testing is done via a very basic online yes/no matrix.Most of those working there have no PC training at all aside from what Sky give them.
    Without going thru that,I doubt Sky will replace the router.IIRC,only TSG & not Tier 1 can do this.
    Also,if you get thru to the Lipa center.hang up!!! They're about as much use as a chocolate fireguard!!! 9One of the reasons I left,fed up sorting out their messes & lies to customers!)

    Ok, perfect for 24 hrs yesterday.

    ADSL line speed calculator from sky user gives;

    2mb/2500Kbps capability
    1mb available, 2mb not
    500Kbps/256Kps available
    ADSLMax upto 8mb available
    distance to exchange 1.23 miles.

    Something has changes as the checker would not accept my tel number at the weekend, the exchange issue sky talked of?

    But connection has dropped out again this morning.

    Where previously the internet activity light would flash 5 seconds orange, pause 2 sec then repeat, today it has done several things. It either flashes orange for much longer say 10 secs before pausing, tries to flash both green and amber at the same time, or gives no indication at all.

    I'm going to change the bt master socket today as a next option, sky are sending new filters.
