awww you poor thing! i remember when i didnt have a house phone and ringing round on my mob was costing loads!
Im having 3 bridesmaids and one flower girl... all are getting bhs dresses!
Im so bored atm, im off work with a bad back, only been off less than a week and already want to do something, altho i have found that bending is very difficult so im better off just sat here - with the lap top on the same level as my shoulders haha!!

btw do you use tesco rewards? me and my fella went to glasgow marriott for the weekend.... meant to be 200 but we got it for free! going to use a couple of hundred to get them off the honeymoon!!! worth a go??

    Hi Emma,

I'm so sorry - I've just realised I never did reply to this post! :o How's your back now? I hope you're feeling better!

I'm actually considering getting my bridesmaids dresses made! With there being so many of them, I'd thought on having them all in whatever style they like, but the same material, which means I'd probably need to get them made!

I have used Tesco points in the past (I used to get a fuel card with my job so collected them with the fuel), but unfortunately there isn't a Tesco locally to where we live just now and I haven't had the company car since I started back at uni - although we move on Sunday and I think Tesco is probably about to become our closest supermarket! What a great deal you got there though!:money: I'll defo bear it in mind for saving towards the wedding! Where are you thinking of for honeymoon?

Yeah some of my gf mates now teach overseas... Italy, Canada and Australia I believe. My MiL is a DHT Primary and says her authority is moving towards a "BVT" scheme which should improve the situation post probation. Not sure if this is just her authority.

I'd love to teach overseas - even for a year or two! But OH is a policeman so it's not quite so easy for him to transfer jobs and he's really not keen! I'll just need to fit in as much travelling as poss in the school hols to make up for it! ;)

Hopefully it will improve, the reduction in intake of students for this incoming year ought to help, although I don't think they've reduced secondary places as much as primary - but then, the job situation isn't quite as bad for secondary either - although it's still far from great!

  • Well - I had a great weekend! Got the emergency tax back in my pay, so ended up about £90 better off than I'd expected! I'd also got a bit muddled up, turned out I'd only an extra £5 to pay towards the Wigwam and not £14. Plus, although it was raining a little, we persevered with the BBQ, and I didn't bother going to the pub at all on Friday night. Went out for dinner last night, but OH's parentals picked up the tab (despite many protests from us!). So it turned out to be a pretty fab weekend, but all on a bit of a budget!

Downside?? I'm totally knackered today and in a bit of a **blargh** kind of mood! :( plus, I'm stuck in work and absolutely marving!! You can see it's all the serious things in life that are causing me worry today! ;):D

I might try and call the tax office again at my break, just to make sure they've received everything they need for last years tax return! Here's hoping!!
  • Hhhhmmmmmppphhhhh - this do nothing all day kinda job is really starting to wear me down! :( Luckily I finish up on Friday!

I spoke to the tax office last night to make sure that the info I'd sent about last years tax return was what they actualoly needed (the forms I got from previous employer didn't actually say P11D on them) apparently it will be at least October before they even look at it! :( Boo Hiss to the tax man! They're not quite so slow when it comes to taking money off of us!

I have OH's birthday on Friday (his 30th no less!), we're moving house on Sunday and are going camping ni Norfolk next Thu ('til the following Monday!) and I have a grand total of £24.36 available in my bank account and £30 in my purse! :( looks like the credit card is about to take a battering!

Had a minor drama with Argos last night/this morning too! But that's a moan for another day!!

Hope you're all in a more positive place than me today! (If there's anyone actually bored to read through my ramblings that is!! ;))

  • Well - I'm in a much happier sunshiney kinda mood today! :D

I realised yesterday that I get my first wage from teaching exactly 2 weeks after starting! :j It won't be a fuul wage, but every little helps!

I'm still going to have to coast on my credit card 'til then, but I have enough to pay all of my immediate expenses (Bank loan, phone, bus fayre), so as soon as I get started in school the social life will be cut back! And drastically!

Whatever I have on my credit card will be cleared by Christmas and we'll start the new year on a fresh footing!

I stayed at mums last night and went out for a run this morning and i think that's what's improved my mood so much! It's amazing the difference it has just to have gotten up and done something in the morning rather than lazing in bed all day! :T

Going to stay with OH's parentals tonight - the thought of her pretty amazing cooking is making my belly rumble alreadies! :D

Out for dinner tomorrow, then a musical on Saturday (using tokens we got for Christmas and some tesco vouchers I had left over).

All in all it's shaping up to be a pretty good weekend, then we move on Sunday, couple of days to settle in the new flat, and off camping we will go! Which will only really cost us the fuel as we're borrowing pretty much everything else!

i've also just signed up to cut down/stop on thw alcohol consumption! I'm by no means a heavy drinker, but most of my nights out involve at least a few glasses of vino - which not only costs more for the drink, means getting taxi's home etc - so i reckon by cutting down on that I'll manage to save a wee bit of cash! :D

Thats a good idea if all your bridesmaids live in traveling distance, my friend got hers made when i was a bridesmaid and i think it cost 120 for 3!!! which i thought was well good! The back is still awful, but hey ho! :(:) We are thinking of going somewhere like sweden, but its so expensive even to buy a coffee, so thinking of a baltic cruise!!!! altho, i will have to eat beans until then. going there as i cant go out in the sun, even with factor 50 i get a rash :( what about you?
    Hows your money saving going?
Ive started ebaying, already made £25 :)

  • Hey!!

I'm so sorry I disappeared! It took us an age to get the internet sorted when we finally moved into the new flat, and I can't get the forums bit to work from my mob! Sob!!

Hope life's well with all of you DFW'ers!!

I'll do a proper money check in just shortly - finally started earning a full salary again (WHOO!!) - although, unfortunately it doesn't stretch just as far as I'd like! :( But we'll get there, I suppose!!

    xx
  • Thanks for the luck partickz - it obviously worked (even if I wasn't able to see it! :P) My first few weeks have been amazing! Here's hoping it stays that way! :)
