Am I too fussy... (It turns out yes!)

Going back to the example of the architrave and the gap ,I would have no worries about
using decorators caulk. Talk to the builder , but also listen.
Hmm - actually I think that is the worst one although it doesn't photograph well. The flash seems to hide the problem a bit. Gap is almost 1cm...
Anyway, I'll see what the main builder says. He's normally a bit of a perfectionist to be honest, but I don't think he has been to seen the carpenters work yet.
And for sure - will listen as well as ask!! He's been good so far, so not looking for an argument.0 -
No the photo is not easy to understand. 1cm is a lot , but thats a problem with the plasterer ?
Good luck , as Winnie said Jaw /jaw is better than war/war0 -

Hi
I am in the middle (or hopefully near the end) of a big renovation project and they are just starting to put in some of the finishes. I am not sure how fussy to be about the details or if there is another stage to come, but some of it looks a bit imprecise.
Can anyone here let me know your thoughts?

I know its not TERRIBLE, but I am paying a lot of money for the project, and I think the finish is quite important...
Anyway, tell me if I am being too fussy, or can complain!
Thanks

p.s. And as a side issue... how to I insert pictures??!
I think you might be jumping the gun a bit here, as they havent finished yet, the top pic can easily be made good by the P&D, also the 3rd pic, ie screw holes and corner gap again can easily be made good, sometimes the chippie cant odds it, as the wall corner could be out.
Not too sure what I am supposed to be looking at in pic 2 lol.
Speaking as a P&D, here is what I suggest, firstly no workman appreciates the customer pointing things out specially when they havent finished yet, or near finished.
However, if you know that they are near to finishing, ie a few days, then point out the gaps/holes etc, but give them a chance to actually do it first before you point it out.
On one job I was on, I would have them going on every fricking time, I would have 1 coat on the walls, they would pipe up, its patchy, I would say thats cause I havent finished it needs other coats yet
I would undercoat all the rooms in one hit, then next day gloss, but I would get... you havent glossed yet?, this went on and on till I threatened to walk out.
I compromised and said, dont leave me notes like war and peace, wait till I am nearly finished, or at least a few days before, then if you think its not getting done, then tell me.
Guess what?, they didnt have to tell me, as it was getting done.
Every decorater has thier own way of doing things, and some find it better to do all the filling in one hit, all the undercoating in one hit, and so forth.
Write a list, then have it ready to show them if you can see they are not doing it.0 -

The floor is running off level slightly, that has opened the joint at the bottom, they should have packed both the skirtings slightly to close the joint, bit of caulk will sort it though.
I'm very fussy0 -
Main contractor came today - ready to raise hell with his carpenter, and on looking at it, said I was overreacting!! My architect/builder dad also told me to chill out, and that the general quality of all the work was excellent, so to let them finish.
As you have all said!! So, I am happy again, and will let them do their thing.
I am just being paranoid I realise. This is my biggest investment ever, and something I don't know how to assess, so just being a little nervous.
Thanks all, and I will give my poor hard working builders/carpenters the chance to finish their work.0
