Wouldn't touch these at all. We had RM machines in the college I work at and the students/kids WERE allowed food/drink next to the machines and they would also frequently try and destroy them in which ever way they could.
Also, the machines were frequently left on overnight due to poor classroom management.
We switched from RM to IBM machines as the RMs were basically rubbishHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Well I bought one of these RM machines, and am mightily impressed. Built like a tank- great build quality. Very minor cosmetic damage to the casing but nothing to worry about. Boots up in no time at all. Plus Bigpockets are offering a 12 month return to base warranty on these for a very reasonable £25 I thought.
Bit concerned though that they don't come with a copy of XP Pro on disk (it's pre-installed) Unclear as to whether you could reinstall the OS with a retail version of XP or whether you need the Research Machines Restore disk or an OEM copy. Anyone know?0 -
I bought a PC from Big Pockets last year, and had way too much trouble with it.
For after sales service, you get passed to a third party company who, quite frankly, don't care.
The first one they delivered didn't work at all, so they promised a new one would be sent out and the old one picked up
I wasted two day off work waiting for delivery; the first day, I called to ask where it was and was told it hadn't been despatched as they didn't have any spare, but one would definatly be delivered the next day.
The second day it still hadn't been delivered, when I phoned, I was told the driver couldn't find my flat (despite having full and absolute delivery instructions, and having successfully delivered the first, non-working unit) so instead of phoning me to ask (my phone number was on the delivery docket, marked as available should the driver not be able to deliver for any reason), he took it back to the depot without informing anyone, so if I hadn't called them, they wouldn't have called me.
I ended up having to travel through to leeds (22 mile round trip) to pick it up from the couriers depot, but was refused a refund on my delivery charge.
I will never buy another PC from Big Pockets.0 -
In reply to everyone who says that they have been used in schools and trashed, it looks as though they where originaly from luton university where they would have probably been looked after quite well. They also look as though they are 2-3 years old but if you where to buy this and put the componenents into a new case you would essentially have a new pc.0

Mine arrived today and I am very pleased with it. There are a few ink marks on it from bored students but I will scrub those off. It was quite dusty too so I opened it up and used an air duster to clean it. It had a sticker on it saying "Property of Luton University". The spec is good. It seems to have been wiped and had Windows XP Professional installed which saved me from doing it myself! ;-) (Yes I work in IT support!).
I have been busy at work today installing anti virus, anti spyware and Windows updates.... lucky the boss is away this week!! ;-)0
