£300 to replace laptop motherboard..

Does this sound about right or are they taking the pi55??? £300 to replace mainboard in a 2 year old Packard-Bell lappy....
Debt-free...and staying that way...

    £300 for a laptop motherboard sounds quite reasonable to me, although I wouldn't contemplate spending anywhere near that much on a 2 year old machine.
    Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.

    Nobody ever replaces a laptop motherboard. When you need to do that you just buy a new one.

    You do if it's a high end gaming machine & it failed, but I doubt the OP's is.

    No,it's def not worth it, I already replaced the hard drive last year, £200,and it's not a gaming machine, just a cheapy laptop. Just cheesed off as all my photos are still on it....
    Debt-free...and staying that way...

    Your photo's are still on it, they are on the hard drive.

    You should be able to remove the hard drive put it into an external usb caddy and plug into another computer.

    Yes but the machine won't switch on to get them off onto a memory stick..
