Hi sc.
Sorry to hear about your husband forthcoming ops, you now need to think seriously about a plan of action.
David hellier has worked out all the maths for you;-According to my calcs you have £119.08 per week to spend on food, clothes, going out, leisure etc. without overspending further; and that is with your current income.
Assuming dh loses income this drops to -£90.02 (nb minus). So you would be insolvent unless serious cutbacks were implemented. I'm not sure of your detailed circumstances, but the items which stand out are:
Car- can this be sold?
Nursery- can dh look after the children?
dh accident and insurance and pension- can these be put on hold?
He felt that the only way to keep yourselves in the black, would be to cut out the car (and all costs related), the Nursery, and insurance and pensions.
By doing this you would have £53 a week for food and anything else.
MUCH BETTER than -£90.00
Is there anyway you can do more overtime to balance the books, or more sellling one way or another. -£90 a week for 6 weeks x 2 ops, isn't going to be much fun.
Is there any other things you can think of you can get rid, or put on hold? It wouldn't be for that long.
Take Care

We are a family of 6. including 2 teenagers 2 little ones (one in pull ups) and 2 adults. We have reduced out shopping bill from around £500 to 300 with a little effort. Tobe quite honest it's not that hard - secret is make a lis and menue plan. Stick to it or use online shopping its easier to see what you're spending. Try some basic (shp's own budget stuff) some of it is ok and I have some fussy children!
Set yourself a challenge to stick to the budget it really helps and use OS board for tips and recipes. To be quite honest I have quite enjoyed (except yesterdays pizza dough and flapjack disater). It makes a huge difference to your budget.0 -

Wireless makes no difference.
Check Martins article on the cheapest

Check out the Broadband and phone combined bit too.
Check out Martins tips on making cheaper calls to mobiles etc. I use 18185 for cheaper calls. Talktalk and BT charges are outrageous for calls to mobiles (sometimes over 30p per minute).
Also, someone may know better than me, but I think your hubbys d!@khead boss should pay full (or almost full) pay for an initial period.

I have just changed to carphone warehouse (Martins advice thanks) £23 a month includes broadband line rental and free calls to all landlines but not premium rate or mobiles. You can also phone quite a lot of countries abroad free too. I think this is an excellent deal , however thier customer service is rubbish and it is quite difficult to actually talk talk to them. Also when you get your mac number i suggest you e mail it to them and phone them as well as they managed to lose my first one, so i paid 2 providers for 3 months, but all sorted now.second_chance wrote:not sure about sky contract think i can cancel anytime but i have no tv ariel so would need to sort that...i can change broadband contract do you know who does the cheapest??im currently wireless have no idea if that affects anything or not!!Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
