  • Remember that when your circumstances change, get in contact with Tax Credits as these should be increased while your OH is on SSP...I think

  • When you advise Child Tax Credit your income has gone down, your TC should go up. If you have mortgage protection or similar, that may help you aswell.
£400 seems a quite high for a family of 3? or is it 4?
We are a family of 4 and our food bills are £300 and we eat like pigs!!!

Ok, well here's my four penneth for what it's worth:

    mortgage £1150
    building and contents £35
life/critical illness £90 Do you really need this? You could cancel it, cash it in and pay it off your debts.
    council tax £96
water £40 Are you on a water meter? This will save you money
electric/gas £50 You can reduce this by switching things off when not being used, putting a jumper on when chilly instead of the heating, measuring out water to be boiled and planning what you want to watch on TV and only watching those programmes
bt £25 (to cover line rental and bill)
    sky £10
    broadband £25
    mobiles £25 (contract)
car £215 (0% finance til 2009) Do you really need this?
    dh accident ins £25
    dh pension £45
    tv license £12
xmas vouchers £30 (finish next month)
    nursery £250
    rcn £15
    car ins £30
    dentist £12
    car service £15
    diesel £60
    unexpected bills/birthdays etc £40
groceries £400 This is REALLY high. Reduce this by looking on the Old Style boards

    Hi
Are you tied into a contract with sky?
If not you could cancel this and go freeview or do what I did and ask Sky to cancel your contract, you still get the very basic package if you've been with them for 12 months or more, Sky News, ITV2 that type of thing.
Also could you change your broadband if you're not under contract?

will your critical illness policy not pay out for tihs? Or his accident cover? You ar einsured up to your eyeballs there???

I agree your food is astronomical and of course Sky can go, and I guess your Xmas vouchers can be suspended.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Try 200. Me & OH spend 100pcm between us, so for 3 £200 should be comfortable.
