Welcome to the forum. However this thread is now over 9 months old. You'll get a much better response to your query if you start a new thread.
But, in a nutshell, your options in the absence of mains gas are oil, LPG and solid fuel/biomass boilers.

  • Electric boilers have come down in price a lot, they are only minutely more expencive to run then a gas, but there is no maintanace on said boilers they do not have to be put. On an external wall and they do not really break down because of no moving parts I have had a basic 6kw boiler for 6 years with no problems running a 3bed house

They are more expensive to run.

With a Daily Standing Charge tariff, gas can cost well under 4p/kWh and electricity about 3 times as much.

Even allowing for the lower efficiency of a gas boiler, it is still a no contest.

Your 3 bed house must be extremely well insulated if a 6kW boiler of any type can provide sufficient heating and hot water.

However even if your electric boiler uses xxkWh a gas boiler will provide the same xxkWh at a much lower price.
