    Hi ragjoy,

SaveOnline v2 does not carry any cancellation fees. The tariff does not have a fixed price and the unit rates are subject to any increases or decreases.

The amount of discount this tariff offers are guaranteed however until 31 August 2011, so the unit rate may change but you’ll still get the discount as it is today.

Whether prices will increase or not in the future is as ever speculation and I don’t know anymore than the other posters on this board.

You have to make a decision as to whether you are willing to benefit from cheaper prices in the short term or choose to take a tariff that protects your prices long term but at a higher cost at present.

    thanks brian,
im going to have a think for a few days and go from there.

I've already made the decision to switch to EON. The EDF letter is the most misleading piece of garbage ever. They've had the cheek to put your current tariff details but have left off the one they're switching you to. Why I wonder ? (well, no I don't wonder actually looking at how the standard tariff compares). It could be a trades description act issue if I could be bothered. They've also only given 2 weeks notice when it takes 6 weeks to change supplier.

I suspect a lot of people think they're continuing with a discount and won't do anything. They'll only realise after winter when EDF will double their direct debit. Some will cotton on but switch to V6 in a panic with no price guarantee & cancellation charges. At least with EON you can switch away if they change prices or someone else becomes a better deal.
  • On the first page of my letter it gives me the savings I've made by being on the version 5 tariff. The savings are in comparison to the standard tariff, whose rates they are now imposing on me:mad:

I feel i need to post this information to hopefully save some confusion as i have seen in a few posts over the past few days

Online 5 tariff is coming to an end in august 2010

You will automatically go to the standard tariff, this is because you cant automatically go onto a discounted tariff as they have leaving penalties

You can change your tariff at any time by giving edf a call on 08000969000

The cheapest tariffs at the moment are Online saver version 5 and Online saver version 6 which end in the summer 2011, if you change supplier before then the fees are £25 per fuel. These fees are not applicable if you move house or switch to another tariff

The tariff is ending as this is the date on the contract for this product to end, no matter what you say or do you cant stay on this tariff as it is no longer available, this will happen with any supplier and any discounted tariff there is always an end date

The online version 5 tariff is not the same at the online saver version 5 tariff, they are 2 different tariffs with different tariff prices and different end dates, so please dont be confused as to why some people have letters and others dont, it does depend on the tariff

I hope this may help a little bit, if you have any questions i will try and help, i do work for edf energy but this is just advise as a customer (who has also recieved this letter) and has nothing to do with working for them, this is my personal opinion and understanding and not that of Edf energy who cant be held responsible for this thread

I cannot find anything in my "terms & conditions" that state a fee is payable if I move supplier......can you elaborate?

This letter is a shocking bit of work by EDF....truly unbeleivable!!!

Have you compared EDF's standard tariff with competitors' standard tariffs? Please provide some evidence that it is not competitively priced. If you are so hot on 'truthfulness' then why are you posting a shady message containing half-truths?

I get the impression you work for them?

We'll i've gone with NPower sign online 19. Seems to be the cheapest for me so long as I stay a year to get the £100 discount.

Just had THE letter. That is the most pathetic attempt to pull the wool over the customers eyes. Fine, if they want to put the prices up, that's their choice, but to try and make out that a VERY significant increase will still 'benefit' me is nothing short of a scam.

Bye EDF, it was a pleasure (until now).

i spoke to an edf rep and she is currently on v5, she had not had the letter.
she wasnt a sales type person (if she was she was very discreet) and we had a good chat ref eon and npowers better deals.
edf v6 is currently better than v5 for me, as the rep said if it goes up there will be something else better you can interchange without penalty.
ok if i move it will cost me, but the same applies to eon and npower even if its not as much, take that in with the 6 to 8 week changeover where i assume you will move onto edfs standard tariff for 6 weeks, again costing you money albeit summer money.
i think we know there all shysters, and you take a chance.
regarding the letter, yes its bordering on fraudulent lies, if you are savvied up you either move on or change tariff.
whats really wrong is there allowed to have so many tarriffs, basically its legal theft imo, but for those that read here we tend to get a better rate than those who dont do nothing when robbed.
    ive gone onto edf v6
