Edf tariff change information

I think on moneysupermarket you must have put in your figures for a month rather than 1/4 or something like that and thats why the price does not look right
in regards to the igt charges, i also have to pay for these pain isnt it, however lots of companies are now charging the igt charge, this is the actual cost that it costs edf, i know british gas dont charge it but many do and this will not show on any comparision chart so unfortunatly you will have to just ask the provider that you choose
Your right with the fact your coming off a fixed tariff and prices now seem much more, have you seen the % increase since you took out your fixed deal? you where lucky you took out a fixed price when you did and that you have been saving all that money by choosing that option. Edf has a new 5 year fixed price, obviously at the moment it seems very expensive, but if we have any energy price hikes in the next 5 years like we have over the past couple of years then those prices will start to look cheap, however no1 can predict the future (well i know i cant anyway hahah)

my EDF bills say i'm on online v5 direct debit - is this the one that's going up? I haven't had any letter.....Indecision is the key to flexibility

actually looks like npower is the cheapest for me, but its not a fix, just gauranteed to be 2% cheaper than their standard. Not great if their standard goes up a lot!0

I am struggling with my comparison.
My quarterly average is of elect is 1256. Gas is 69 units (metric) x11 to convert to kwh = 767. Have entered these same figures on 3 comparison sites.
Simply switch lists Ovo as cheapest at ££660.
Moneysupermarket lists OVo as cheapest, but this time at £1460!!!
Ukpower list npower as cheapest at £510
Can anyone help? Also have to consider £32 on top for the IGT charge
Have now taken to checking each companies tariffs and entering into a spreadsheet..... very time consuming, but I no longer trust these websites
Its because you are doing things quarterly and using averages, get your exact annual usage and put that into the comparison sites and you will get the same answer from all three.
If there is any inaccuracy in the results you get from comparison sites its because of inaccuracy of what you have put in.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

The letter from EDF is awful - their own customer advisor agreed.
He told me that his own account had moved from Online 5 to Online Save 6.
Anyway, before phoning I did a quick comparison and EDF were still coming up cheapest for me (9500kw/year no mains gas) on Online Saver 6. So I just asked to be put on that.
The only other annoying thing about EDF is random mid-year direct debit renewals. I use 60 unit / day for 7 months and 10 units / day for the other 5. I joined in October right at the start of my main usage, and in June this year they tried to change my direct debit from £72/month to £300/month on some mid-term review that they denied doing. Looks like moving to Saver 6 is going to bring my yearly usage in just below £72/month :-)0 -
hi all,
ive not been in this section since moving from SP to EDF around a year back.
ive had the letter, and after doing the comparison sites for my region (east anglia) EON comes out 3rd after EDF online6 and NPOWER online19.
but EON dont tie you in, but how does there commitment regarding changing the rates work, ie: EDF states 2% below standard, does anyone know or can they point me to the relevant info.
thanks in advance.

Hi ragjoy,
It’s worth checking all the details of the E.ON tariffs you are looking at as some may have prices and/or discounts that are guaranteed for a fixed period of time and some of these may have cancellation fees.
If you tell me the tariffs you are looking at I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have and clarify any points.

thanks for the reply.
EON save online version 2 was the one i got when doing the comparisons.
there is also a £55 cashback via quidco, i know the cashback dont mean a great deal, nothings for free.
but are EON as likely to up the rates as EDF with there equivalent best tariffs for me, ie EDF online 6 vs EON save online version 2.
with the benefit of being able to go elsewhere if i opt for EON, is this the only real difference?.
any advice will be helpful.
and thanks for the prompt reply brian.

Thanks for your help, but I did ensure whether the site requested monthly, quarterly or yearly and entered usage accordingly.
My average is also not far out since I took 6 months usage and averaged it.
That said, perhaps it isn't a bad idea to look at my previous years usage0 -
Hi ragjoy,
SaveOnline v2 does not carry any cancellation fees. The tariff does not have a fixed price and the unit rates are subject to any increases or decreases.
The amount of discount this tariff offers are guaranteed however until 31 August 2011, so the unit rate may change but you’ll still get the discount as it is today.
Whether prices will increase or not in the future is as ever speculation and I don’t know anymore than the other posters on this board.
You have to make a decision as to whether you are willing to benefit from cheaper prices in the short term or choose to take a tariff that protects your prices long term but at a higher cost at present.
