Edf tariff change information

I feel i need to post this information to hopefully save some confusion as i have seen in a few posts over the past few days

Online 5 tariff is coming to an end in august 2010

You will automatically go to the standard tariff, this is because you cant automatically go onto a discounted tariff as they have leaving penalties

You can change your tariff at any time by giving edf a call on 08000969000

The cheapest tariffs at the moment are Online saver version 5 and Online saver version 6 which end in the summer 2011, if you change supplier before then the fees are £25 per fuel. These fees are not applicable if you move house or switch to another tariff

The tariff is ending as this is the date on the contract for this product to end, no matter what you say or do you cant stay on this tariff as it is no longer available, this will happen with any supplier and any discounted tariff there is always an end date

The online version 5 tariff is not the same at the online saver version 5 tariff, they are 2 different tariffs with different tariff prices and different end dates, so please dont be confused as to why some people have letters and others dont, it does depend on the tariff

I hope this may help a little bit, if you have any questions i will try and help, i do work for edf energy but this is just advise as a customer (who has also recieved this letter) and has nothing to do with working for them, this is my personal opinion and understanding and not that of Edf energy who cant be held responsible for this thread

Disgraceful Dishonest Deceitful EDF Marketing of Tariff Change - The "Great Savings" letter to confirm the end of Online Tariff Version 5 on 1st August 2010 says EDF will be "aligning your prices with our competitively priced Standard Tariff." Now for the TRUTH .. Dual Fuel ELECTRICITY tariff will INCREASE by 75% from 10.66p to 18.67p (plus VAT) for the first 900 units annually. Additional units INCREASE by 26% from 8.31p to 10.50p (plus VAT). Similarly GAS primary units INCREASE by 12.5%. This will happen AUTOMATICALLY if you do nothing. Why can't EDF disclose the truth? Methinks it's time to search elsewhere for a better deal !!!

Have you compared EDF's standard tariff with competitors' standard tariffs? Please provide some evidence that it is not competitively priced. If you are so hot on 'truthfulness' then why are you posting a shady message containing half-truths?

Kim - 2AM's post is an accurate interpretation of EDF's misleading letter. I don't see him as telling 'halftruths'. EDF are certainly telling 'untruths'. Many customers won't realise the impact of going onto Standard Tariff until they get their next bill, the letter is certainly avoiding telling them of the massive increase in cost. Remember this website is on the side of the consumer, EDF isn't.

If you've already asked to go onto this tariff (I did yesterday) from Online V5 is it too late to cancel?

    Thanks

This seems to indicate you have a 7 day cooling off period when changing supplier, not sure if it still applies if you're just moving tariff.

I take it you work for EDF? I'm on the fixed price 2010 tariff and the Online Saver 6 Tariff looks awful compared. EDF have also said they can no longer remove the IGT charge which I dont understnad?

Your IGT charge is no longer being subsidised by other customers, you will have to pay for it yourself. Your current deal is coming to an end and the alternative deals available now are a different price.

What is it that you don't understand?

That makes sense, just seems strange to offer it one minute and not the next.

I am struggling with my comparison.

My quarterly average is of elect is 1256. Gas is 69 units (metric) x11 to convert to kwh = 767. Have entered these same figures on 3 comparison sites.

Simply switch lists Ovo as cheapest at ££660.
Moneysupermarket lists OVo as cheapest, but this time at £1460!!!
Ukpower list npower as cheapest at £510

Can anyone help? Also have to consider £32 on top for the IGT charge

Have now taken to checking each companies tariffs and entering into a spreadsheet..... very time consuming, but I no longer trust these websites
