Re the laptop cable, I had the same problem with the universal ones, I found a website that had a original one for around £25 and it hasn't given me any trouble at all, may be worth having a look?xx

My concern with it at the moment is whether it will mean whatever I make from it I may lose in tax credits? Although I do like the idea of giving it a go and trying to male a success of it

I also love Phoenix cards, they are beautiful and really well priced - bit far to send them here, but good luck with your new venture!

Did lots of thinking last night and am not sure I will go ahead with the cards; just not sure its that practical with ds and my other job. I will think about it some more but I may be better spending more time on the betting.

The money from the csa (the £200 he paid last week) still hasn't arrived in my account  He's allegedly making another payment in the next day or two but we'll wait and see.

Today we're off to the dry ski slope with mum and my sister and her boys. The kids love it there, then we're out for lunch and this afternoon ds swimming lessons resume for the new term.

Off now for a bath and o hunt down yet another new cable for the laptop, another £50 I hadn't budgeted for

I have had problems with my laptop cable as well, PC Worlds so called master people checked it and sold me a universal one that did not work so did Novatech. Anyway got the original HP one and it was fine but £50. Tripped over the cable again 2 month later same problem but got original one from Amazon £20 free delivery so maybe have a look there. If you have the original part number from the cable its easy to find one. Mine is a HP and apparently they are known for that problem.

Good luck with all the money saving you are doing really well.

Thanks Tallgirl, this is one of the igo universal chargers, it seems much better than the cheaper chargers I've had before but I guess I'm not tht careful with them :o I have just ordered a new tip for it from their website (£5.99) and also a proper original cable from amazon (£20). Altogether its a lot cheaper than I was expecting and hopefully this way I'll have a spare one too ;):D I went for express delivery for the amazon one so am hoping it may arrive tomorrow, if not thursday.

Yes that does sound a lot better than £50 and its a great idea to have a spare. My one is a work one and it was my IT department who suggested Amazon as that where they buy theirs so thought it would be OK to suggest. Mine took 4 days to arrive on free delivery so best to opt for the express one if you really need it.
