I really really really hate it that just because you are careful with money, when it comes to the end of your life suddenly you have to use all that money. Whereas if you had saved nothing, then you would get it free... good luck with the getting fabulous
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

I totally agree Chev, my parents have both worked hard to save money all their lives and now mum has the awful situation where she will have to spend stupid amounts on a necessity of a care home for dad and watch their life savings dwindle, while she has *hopefully* many years ahead of her still (shes 67), and yet will probably not have much money left for her retirement :mad:Mortgage Total: £50,720/ £75,000

Blimey, £1k a week, that's outrageous, your poor parents
My parents would be in exactly the same situation.
My utterly fabulous challenge has started today - had a piece of toast and a hm banana milkshake that should keep me full up til about 2pm! Somehow I managed to lose 2lb yesterday but that's probably TOTM related not a real loss. I'm tormenting myself by baking a couple of scrumptious banana loaves with DD this morning, but will do the sensible thing and slice them for the freezer for packed lunches...*sigh*. Only XXXXXXXlb to go til I'm slim!0 -
Gosh that's outrageous about your mum and dad having to pay 1k per week for his care! Does she get any help in the home for him? If she does, does she have to pay for that too?0

So sorry to hear about your Dad BB, hugs xxx That really stings about the money, the whole system suits only the fat cats and not the people that need it.
Have fun trainer shopping today xx"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

Back home and the bank card hs taken a bit of a dent today
We got the train (£3.30) and then had to get a bus (£3.20), got ds trainers (£25 reduced from £40), had to go to a normal sports shop as sportsdirect only had cheap horrible ones in his size
, I also got him a huge world map poster for his room that he's wanted for ages (£3.99) and a big horrid henry book (£3.99 but he's paying half). I got a new thing to hang socks etc to dry on (£1), a cookie and a yum yum in greggs
(£1.09) and some flowers for mum (£2).
Popped round to mum and dads afterwards, dad is pretty much zombie like todaymum seemed a bit better today though.
Home now, the place is a tip, just waiting for the hot water to heat up for a bath as I'm freezing, then I'll do some tidying before ds goes this evening.Mortgage Total: £50,720/ £75,000

Just had my bath (water wasn't quite hot enough so don't feel all nice and warm and snuggly now ). Mate has just texted me to say she doesn't feel great and can we give tonight a miss, tbh I am actually quite pleased, am looking forward now to a night in, catch up on the housework tonight which leaves tomorrow to sort the food shopping and the banking before ds gets back homeMortgage Total: £50,720/ £75,000

Ds is eating another hm pizza, his bag is packed and he's all ready to go. I have whizzed round and tidied a lot of the superficial mess away, will tackle the rest properly once he's gone.
£2.50 profit from a small matched bet today, all helps though doesn't itMortgage Total: £50,720/ £75,000

Ds has gone to his dads now, complaining of a tummy ache just before he went, hoping he'll settle once he's there
So, time to get cracking with the flat, yet againMortgage Total: £50,720/ £75,000
