Specsavers works perfectly fine and are always happy to give you the prescription. Accepted my voucher.

Found the same, Specsavers are happy to give you the prescription, I have found others are totally reluctant to give you it, very annoyingly they don't want you to get the glasses made at a better value competitor and I've hated arguing with them, my glasses need up to £100 for thinning on lenses so yes I will shop around and don't want to be ripped off. I recommend Tesco and Costco, Asda is a no go for me: they couldn't be bothered to optically center the glasses they sold me, so wearing them gave me dizzy spells!!

To follow on from eilidh_s and from Martin's advice about free eye tests in Scotland I wanted to let you all know that eye tests are free in Scotland for anyone with a UK address. I know it doesn't sound true but it is. I live in Derbyshire but am originally from Edinburgh and regularly go back on holiday. Last trip I decided to get my eyes tested at Boots as I was in town and had a voucher from down south, I went and booked and waived my voucher at the assistant who didn't seem to know what it was and blanked it. Anyway I gave all my details (English address etc) and the optician saw me and explained that the eye test was free. I again explained that I was no longer resident in Scotland so they checked and told me that I was still eligable as I had a UK address. They gave me a full check including photos of my optic nerve tests for glaucoma etc all the stuff others in this thread say are missing from some free tests in England. Anyway it was great service and amazing that the Scottish Parliament are paying but hey ho! So if you visit Scotland regularly or are planning a trip soon get your eyes done while you are there. For info they still print out the free vouchers at the advantage card machines in boots as the machines don't know they are in Scotland (if you see what I mean) the sales assistant says people just bin the vouchers up there.

Had my free eye test at Specsavers today thanks to the voucher above.

The timing was very fortuitous as I'd already got a test booked to make use of the £10 eye test voucher I'd had through the door in the Specsavers leaflet so this went one step better and I got it for nothing yay :j
  • Hi there guys.
Same situation in Poland, if you want to have your eyes checked you need to pay.
    Nothing for free :)
  • I've been looking for this offer and the link on MSE doesn't work and there isn't an offer on Boots website.

    Hi,

I tried to use the Optical Express one, but it says it expires today, so I did a bit of hunting and Specsavers are doing eye tests for £5. I coldn't see it on the main splash page, but if you choose your local branch and go to the bottom left there's a list of offers and that's where it appeared for me.

Hopefully this will be of use to someone :)

Had an awful job finding this online although I knew it existed as I'd given mine to the DH the other day!

....then looked on the local store page as last post says. The store offers are on the left hand side once you go to the Store Details page. My offer was for Free Eye Test. (don't know if things are a bit quiet there at this time of year.....)

Brilliant! can get my eye test this morning free now :T
  • Just been on the site to print a voucher for my test today - Southend only have a voucher for a £10 test. No thanks Specsavers, I'll go to Optical Express instead!
