Free Eye Tests deals discussion

I work for Specsavers and they are running a special promotion - free sight tests including retina photography till 30th March 2013. No catch!
Come and find me in Richmond town centre TW9 (usually near the Station) and get the free leaflet which entitles you to the free test.
It's a genuine offer. I had my eyes tested by them (before I started working for them) and they were brilliant0 -
Agree with Popppet's post above. Just had my second free eye test at Cardiff University's school of optometry. Takes a bit longer but it's very thorough and the test is supervised and checked by the lecturer. Even included a free retinal photograph the first time I went so that they can keep a look out for changes over time! Just out of the town, with free on-site parking. What's not to like?0

Hi BoBo_the_clown,
The offer included within this weeks email is being honoured and you DO NOT have to make a purchase to redeem a free eye test.
To clarify, the offer is a free eye test regardless of whether you make a purchase or not. If you do choose to make a purchase, Optical Express will then give you a further £30 discount off your choice of frames when you spend £100 or more. Please make sure you have your voucher with you though as the staff will be unable to process without one.
I’m sorry to hear that you have had problems redeeming your offer. Can you please email me at customerfeedback@opticalexpress.com with your details and I can investigate this for you?
Thanks,
Lynsey Shaw

Just had a eye test exam at Optical Express using the free eye test voucher from this weeks email. I was told, only after taking the test, that it was only free if I had bought glasses as well. I had to fork out £15 for the eye exam.
I am furious and felt cheated. Considering contacting trading standards about this.0 -
Did you all print the e-mail ot was a voucher attached to the e-mail?
I have my eye test booked for tomorrow morning and wanted to know what you took with you.Debt free as of 7.20am on 31st December 2012.
Wow. Feels great :j :beer:0 -

I have my eye test booked for tomorrow morning and wanted to know what you took with you.
Printed the voucher, presented the voucher to staff, asked confirmation that the eye exam was free with the voucher, staff scanned the barcode of the voucher. Still asked me to fork out £15 at the end of the exam as they said I had to buy glasses for the exam to be free.
Frankly I don't understand why this is advertised as a free no obbligation eye exam on MSE when it's clearly not the case..0 -
Well, they will have fun with me tomorrow then, as I am not paying them a penny.
I have also just rung them and he asked for my confirmation e-mail which had no voucher attached to it, so he will "note" that it is free.
I asked for an e-mail back confirming it will be free. If i don't get it, I just won't turn up.Debt free as of 7.20am on 31st December 2012.

After sending an email to Optical Express, Head office has apologised for the inconvenience and confirmed I will be refunded. They replied very swiftly, so credit to them for the timing.
They have assured me that the voucher from the MSE email is for a free no obbligation eye exam and they said they will make sure all the clinics understand this. Hopefully others won't have the same problems and stress as I did.0 -
My fiance has been for the 'free eyes test' today at Optical express.
He has been told he needs glasses to wear all the time.
However they would not give him the prescription, said it was for their records! I was under the impression they had to give you a copy, whether you paid for test or not ?
After a phone call to the call centre, the prescription is in the post.
Cheeky devils trying to con people into buying from them.0
