but beware if you need proxy wifi access then research properly before buying. if you just use your phone data connection or regular wifi connection then android should be a good option too. best to explore a friends phone before buying though so that you have first hand experience whether the phone suits your needs.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
What is proxy wifi?
Is there a really good 'high street' phone shop I can go into for proper business use advice?
You are right bubbles - I need to know it will do exactly what I want it to do before committing to it - thanks.0 -

But in brief it is some setting you need to fill in the blanks on your device if you need to access proxy networks. not all networks work like this, but many university and company networks work like this, i am told. so in that scenario you will need this if you want to access their inetrnal network via wifi on their premises. although mods of android phones are able to access proxy networks too and even some other work around are there but i havent ever used such features but know they exist but not that easy out of the box like on some phones where it works out of the box.
i doubt there would be a competent shop you can walk into to ask these questions as most have some spotty teenager running them. although i might be wrong on that count too.
make a detailed list of what you need your phone to do definitely and another desirable features list. then see what phone on the market suits your needs. if in doubt ask on here or other forums and i am sure someone will always be around hopefully to give some input. remember just like any forum, well meaning advice may be wrong too! that includes what i say too.so check and double check mandatory requirements.
dont forget to check out this phone presently on the market http://www.electricpig.co.uk/samsungsmartphone/galaxys see all the links on the above link and see youtube videos about the phone too.
you might find this useful too http://androidbloke.co.uk/2010/06/01/top-5-tips-for-choosing-a-phone-you-love/ and that guy appears to be willing to help in guiding people make a choice, so check out the email contact option on the link.
best of luckbubblesmoney :hello:0
