Best phone for multiple email accounts

I am a financial controller for various clients around the country. I have finance@ blah blah for them all, plus 2 or 3 personal email addresses.

Which would be the best mobile phone for having all these emails come directly to - all in their seperate 'folders'. And I presume if I reply to any of the emails - it would know to reply from the correct email address?

Internet access would be handy - but only if it was fast and useable.

Nothing touches a Blackberry for serious phone use such as multiple emails address's

Googlemail can be set to pull in from multiple email accounts.

Googlemail have good free app for most phones including BB's

Windows Mobile phones can be set to have lots of IMAP accounts.

But the Class leader is still the BB, forget the IPhones they just a fashion and media phone.
  • Totally agree here; you sound like you want a "phone that does" rather than a fashion statement. Don't get me wrong; I really like the new iPhone and WILL get one, but it's a WANT rather than NEED. What you NEED is a Blackberry.

Blackberry - definitely. Any model will do the job but if you want a fashion statement, too, then wait a wee while for the new 9800 - it looks the bogs dollox.

Having said all that, the iPhone will do EXACTLY what was requested along with superior Internet access than with a BlackBerry.
  • I agree that the iPhone will do it, but the Blackberry will do it cheaper (both in terms of up-front costs and monthly tariff). The Blackberry won't do the App Store, but if you need e-mail and internet and aren't worried about apps, go for the Blackberry.

If you want something that does the e-mail and internet, but includes apps, video, free sat nav (clicky) and all round fun, go for the iPhone.

I mentioned before; the iPhone is a WANT and the Blackberry is a NEED. It's down to budget.

Thanks everyone. dh has a blackberry and the internet usage is ok. I'll have a look around to see how much cheaper it is for a blackberry than an iPhone. I'm only paying £10 a month for unlimited texts and 200 mins - so don't want something TOO much more expensive.

    Not true.

The BB has an App store, with loads of apps.

The BB has youtube etc etc blah blah.

The Iphone is flabby and data hungry and since its popularity networks have struggled and abolished unlimited data tarrifs.

BB's use a lean mean data transfer and would not overburden networks like Iphones.

The iphone is a media fashion phone.

I say if you want a spirit level app and other such boy scout stuff get an Iphone.

If you want a communications tool get a BB

Am I correct in thinking that emails update real time - or do I need to connect to the internet every so often and send/receive??

as you yourself said .... gmail pulls in emails from many other accounts. accounts can be set up for replying to other accounts. also. all these can be had as a push mail facility via any exchange server account.

this can be had via a blackberry or via android smartphones as well. i cant comment about iphone.

as you very well know if you want to use a googlemail or gmail account to pull in for free from other email accounts then gmail works best with android phones for obvious reasons and not with blackberry phones!

many corporate accounts are actually gmail accounts with their own branding!

if you use the blackberry phones pushmail then fine, i know it works. but to say that is the only option is wrong. both my yahoo and gmail emails appear on my htc desire android phone instantly, by instant i mean instant and there is not even a few seconds delay. it depends how you have set up the updates. i use the gmail app and yahoomail app both are pushmail apps. you can also use the htc email facility on the desire phones which have imap / pop functions the imap option would be a better bet than pop feature. but the app options are great too. but copy paste is not available on the apps yet, dont know if this is sorted on froyo. but copy paste is available on the htc mail feature available on htc desire phones. there are other commercial versions like touchdown etc i am told among many others that work veru well for commercial users but i havent used those.

the yahoo app available from the android market is a pushmail app with notifications, but the andorid app available from yahoo website links recently (exactly the same as getjar yahoomail app) is NOT a pushmail app but just a shortcut to yahoomail mobile website and you can see mails instantly but will not be notified of new messages. i have used both versions of yahoo mail apps both have their plus points and negative points. presently i use the pushmail yahoo app from android market but i have used the getjar yahoomail app as well for a long time. differentr users will have different needs hence the beauty of android phones is where they have different versions for the same feature which suits different users and their needs.

k9 or touchdown etc among may others is available for many android phones if you dont have a htc factory installed imap pushmail exchange server account on your device. k9 is free but i think touchdown is paid.

android phones have a very useful upcoming service called cloud to device computing. google it to see what it means and how it can be used with various browsers on your computer like google chrome and firefox etc as it can send data instantly to any linked android phone instantly. data is not limited to just emails by the way!

as with everything do your own research about your own needs and options and double check each option as you will be the one suffering if you dont research properly. asking on forums is just the beginning, but doing your own research is the best option apart from google search ofcourse!

enterprise features are there on many phones like windows and android phones.

but with every phone there are some drawbacks presently and android phones have their drawbacks if you need proxy wifi access but even this has workaorunds but i havent tried them. if you dont need proxy wifi access then this issue shouldnt bother you but a useful feature to have all the same!

ps: i am told google synch is exactly the same as miscrosoft exchange synch as google licensed that from microsoft! i guess they are working on a better one by now behind the scenes. and microsoft does know a lot about enterprise features without a doubt, which cant be said for apple products as far as i am aware.

as far as i know blackberry phones are good only for email and thats about it. there are loads of other options now for pushmail and many android phones can do pushmail from multiple servers equally good and these devices are not just limted to email, they do other things like internet browsing great as well unlike blackberry devices. if the end user wants to use the other features on the phone as well they better look elsewhere other than blackberry if they want to use their phone as a camera / portable scanner / billing device / media player / portable memory device etc etc etc

i dont know if skype is available on blackberry devices. the OP might find it useful feature on some android phones and carriers to use the conference call features for conferenecing upto 24 people to have clarifications especially as they are in the finance section and they will be conferencing frequently! skype on three network is free to use and does not use the data limits. there are other options for conferencing like WLM / fring / iskoot / skype lite etc etc etc. i dont know if all these apps are available on blackberry devices. business needs are a lot more than email access now a days atleast.

android phones like samsung galaxy s have DLNA wireless streaming capabilities which as far as i am aware no other phone has. this will be useful if you work in a corporate setup if the network supports this feature and need access to download files from networks without the need for using wires to connect. your device can also act as a wireless streaming device.
