This was just the icing on the cake after a particularly stressful day at work. Watched horrified  as phone slid off pile of paper into my mug of cold tea (which I hadnt had time to drink).
Took the battery out straight away and dried as best Icould.
Left it apart in the airing cupboard over nite. This morning put the battery back in. Key pad lights up but nothing on the screen.
Husband got me this through his contract with Vodafone. What do I do next?:(

I would give it a while longer. My colleague did the same thing (except the tea was hot) a couple of weeks back and after about 24 hours his phone was fine. If after 24 hours it still doesn't work then you should be able to make a claim on your mobile insurance - assuming you have it - as this is a clear case of accidental damage. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Always a good tip with a soggy mobile.
What mobiles don't tend to like is being washed in a machine for an hour or so, spun and then tumble-dried. This is what happened to one of mine at Christmas. Luckily, it was my work mobile so I got a replacement without any bother. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

The bag of rice trick is a good one, but OP may have already blown any chances of success by turning the phone on this morning.
Start by phoning Voda to see if you have any mobile insurance
If they say no, look on the internet to see how much it would cost you to get the same make/model of phone
Phone your home contents insurers to see if you have "away from home" cover only if the phone is more than £100 to replace.
The reason I suggest the lower limit of £100 is that you usually have an excess of £50 and any claim will result in the loss of NCD on your home insurance.
Let's say that for 1 claim free year you get 5% discount and for 2 or more you get 10%.
If your current premium is (£400 - 10%) £360.
Next year it goes up to the full amount, costing you (£400*10%) £40 extra.
The year after that, you get 5% NCD, so the net cost to you is (£400*5%) £20.
Claiming £50 off your home insurance has cost you £60 over 2 years. Not the best decision in the world.....In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0
