Reading this thread with great interest.
We're off to North Wales next week and everyone has posted some great ideas. The Blaenau Ffestiniog railway also makes a great trip, and I can definitely recommend the tram ride up the Great Orme. Bodnant Gardens are beautiful especially at this time of year, and we love exploring the ancient castles.
Enjoy your trip.

Everyone is forgetting Mid Wales, we live 8 miles from the Elan Valley, which has lovely scenery, you can feed the red kites and walk for miles around.
The end of August you have Victorian week in Llandrindod Wells, and you can camp for around £10 a night, very cheap holiday www.ukcampsites.co.uk are excellent for searching on.Visit beautiful Mid Wales:j0
