Another vote for Pembrokeshire
There are some lovely boat trips from St Davids to look at the wildlife on the islands (seals, puffins, etc). There is a boat trip to the island of Caldey from Tenby (it has a monastery). Narberth has some lovely independent shops and is a real draw for tourists to look around with good cafes and delis too. Folly Farm is good and you can get in with Tesco vouchers, it's more of a venue for the kids though.
Barafundle Bay is an award winning sandy beach and it is beautiful. There are many things to do: horse riding on the beaches, walk the coastal path, visit galleries, cathedral at St Davids, boat trips, beaches, etc. You can even go coasteering if that is your thing! http://www.tyf.com/?c=act-coastering
I live there so I'm very biased!

there is a park called oakwood park-few rollercoasters etc. i haven't been for years but my friend went couple of weeks ago and loved it.
Not Oakwood! :rotfl:Everyone goes on about the girl who died on the wooden rollercoaster (she was mucking about), but the reality is usually a drizzly queue for mundane rides and a £21 entrance fee for the privelige! Thing is, it's still the best theme park we've got in Wales...

I've been to North Wales (around the Snowdon area) about 4 times and love it there.
This year I went to Pembrokeshire in June and it was gorgeous. Me and OH are already talking about going back next year. We stayed at a tiny place called Aberforest. All the beaches we visited - Poppit Sands, Whitehaven, Newport were long sandy beaches (my dog loved it there).
I didn't get to visit that many places as it was to hot during the day to go out with the dog but the ones I did visit - Solva, Fishguard, Newport - I really liked. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Yes the Lleyn Peninsula is breathtaking. Where ever your planning on going to in Wales always take an ordanance survey map with you and explore.
On the Lleyn itself, most of the tourist head towards Abersoch and have never gone out from there to explore the area.
There are beautiful places on the Lleyn:
Go to Nefyn or Morfa Nefyn, take a walk on the beach or round the headland to the lifeboat station and have a drink at Ty Coch inn.
There are nice little beaches along the coast to Aberdaron. Traeth Towyn, Penllech,Porth Iago and whistling sands.
Aberdaron is a nice little village with lot of history associated with the pilgrims and Bardsey island.
Take the unclassified road up to Uwchmynydd then onto National trust land where the concrete road will take you to a view point where you will see Bardsey island. Have a walk round this headland. Walk down to a well called Ffynon Fair where the water is pure even though sea covers this well with sea tide.
Take the unclassified road up to Rhiw, at the crossroads turn left. 200 yds, turn right onto a narrow lane. after about 2 miles you will reach a view point where you will see the whole of Lleyn below you. There are many paths up this mountain
Aftrwards go back the same way you came until you reach a church, turn left and you come to Plas yn Rhiw (National Trust). At the end of the road, turn left. After about 4 miles, turn right at a crossroads. This road will take you to Llangian, Llanengan and Abersoch. You could have a detour to Porth Neigwl "Hells Mouth", a 4 mile long beach.
On the road from Abersoch to Pwllheli you will come to Llanbedrog, theres a nice beach down here also Plas Glyn Y weddw if your interested in Art.
Other places not to miss would be a car journey on the south west side of Garn Fadryn , or if you are quite fit, walk up it. Path goes up by the side of a chapel.
Mynytho where you walk up a hill to a good viewpoint. A gain you will see most of Lleyn below you.
Nant Gwytheyrn and walk up Tre ceiri mountain
Criccieth, with its castle and Cadwaladers ice cream.
Sorry for this message being long !!!!0 -
As "ONE" mentioned - lovely places in north Wales. Llandudno is lovely, walk along the promenade, evening at Venue Cymru (great shows on), Conwy has lovely quaint little shops & so has Betws Y Coed, Beddgelert is nice, Llanberis, you could take the Welsh Highland Railway, train up Snowdon & walk down, lots of castles for you to visit, lots of lovely clean beaches......
the list is never ending!0 -

My partner and I have not long returned from a trip to Anglesey. We were lucky to have stayed during good weather. Recommend a trip to Newborough beach and a walk to Llanddwyn Island, stunning.

I've got to go with Llandudno as well (being one of my local towns and all).
If your partner likes fishing there are boats trips from the promenade or there's the platform at the end of the pier, there's also a fishing tackle shop half way down the pier. Alternatively there's course fishing at the Rowen Water Gardens which is about five miles or so away.
As far as wildlife is concerned there's the Great Orme Country Park (which is home to a herd of feral Kashmiri goats amongst other things) and there's also the RSPB Nature Reserve at Llandudno Junction. If you are happy to visit a zoo the Welsh Mountain Zoo is nearby in Colwyn Bay which must be one of the most scenic zoos in the UK.

Other attractions include the longest pier in Wales, the 108 year old Great Orme tramway, the longest cable car ride in the UK, the 3500 year old Copper Mines, the Mostyn Art Gallery and the dry ski slope. Conwy Castle is about five miles away. The North Shore beach isn't great due to the flood defences but the West Shore is a fantastic beach with views down the Conwy Valley and along the coast to Anglesey. There's also a couple of hundred hotels, guest houses and B&Bs to pick from.

Elsewhere, we've spent a long weekend in Borth which is just up the road from Aberystwyth. It has a fabulous beach but there isn't much else there. It's ok for a short break though. If you wanted to see wildlife however you could visit the Animalarium which has assorted monkeys, big cats and meerkats to look at!

And I look like a tramp and tramps like us
Baby we were born to walk0
