  • I thought the idea of this forum was to help each other regardless of the disability or the help required. I fail to see how the comments expressed by your self fall into this catagory . You are the 'expert' within your household in relation to the medical , emotional , care needed and given but you can't honestly believe that you are the expert in any shape or form to people you have never met or even spoken to ? You are making unqualified judgements on people from snapshots of a post.I really do not understand why you feel that you can or would wish to upset people in this manner . Isnt life hard enough to cope with when 'you' are in constant pain, battling to get through the day or in whatever form a persons illness/disability is.We all have to conquer prejudice in every day life surely not on a board of this nature?! Feel free to question me on any matters of my health and benefits .
I am new to this part of the site but would like to pass back to the people who were affected by these hurtful comments please try not to get too down and try to shrug them off as I'm sure its a very small minority who would sadly think like this :) K

Are you stupid or something? Pipkin suggested that I follow a program to regulte my bowels and I said that won't help with the issue of wiping myself. She then asked if I wipe myself if I'm just emptying my bladder, to which I said yes.

That's not how I read it, and no I'm not stupid it's just that you don't explain yourself very clearly. There was absolutely no reason for that insult, sorry for trying to help you - it won't happen again.

I've stuck up for you on this board in the past and you thank me with insults. :(

Quite frankly I couldn't care a kipper about your health or your benefits. And I haven't a clue what you are talking about.

    I suspect neither do you.

Sorry to go a bit OT but do you have any info on this? My movements are all over the place and it would be very helpful if I could regulate them.

Talk to your GP / Consultant.

There are methods advised but it isn't something you should just decide to do.

Also, have a look at what you're eating and see if that has an affect on bowel movements. Are your motions loose, hard or normal? It would depend on what your stools were like, to decide what you could do to regulate :)

I read somewhere that people who are paralysed, before they get on a plane, to go on holiday for example, a few days before, regulate their bowels in some way to make it easier for them for the flight.

It does not mean that everybody would be able to use the same method.
    Gone ... or have I?

    Agree dmg.

Due to problems with my back, I use certain methods for emptying the bowels, which have been medically advised, however they aren't suitable for everyone, and was the reason I didn't suggest the poster should try it.

For the person asking, definitely seek advise from your GP if you find you are emptying your bowels at night. There are things you can do to regulate, but your GP will have more information and as this site isn't for medical advise, it isn't something I can discuss :)

It's impossible to regulate your bowel with bowel problems. if I could do that, I would have no need to go at night.

Depends on the bowel problems, sh. However, if you are having to empty your bowels of a night time, look at your diet and talk to your GP.

It may be that you can do something to avoid that.

It's not nice having to rely on others to carry out intimate care, and I'm not sure why you can't wipe, but there are things like the buckingham easywipe if it's a case of you not being able to turn to wipe.

Who helped you when you were in university accomodation?

it's a mixture of poor vision and not being able to turn properly.

I wasn't emptying my bowels when at uni at night; it's only just become a recent thing.

I was doing it myself, however, my sight has slowly become worse again since then.

Not to be crude but I think I could wipe my bum with my eyes closed! It doesn't move.
