i used to love selling on ebay but today has to be the one thing that has enraged me to my fullest.. and also makes me wonder why i even bother with selling!
i had for sale a Brabantia bin lid that i ordered (selling as its the wrong one!) and this item sold for £33.51 to my surprise! anyhow this was the item description (of course the listing was complete with picture of bin lid in its own box)
"Brand new in box, Brabantia touch top bin lid in shiny chrome to fit 50L Touch top bins. Perfect for if the catch has gone or maybe you have the brushed steel bin but would like a nice shiny chrome lid
Bidding starts at just 1p so grab a bargain!!! Any questions please dont hesitate to ask!"
i posted the bin lid off to the buyer and this is the response i got back today:
"ok .. why would i want a bin lid ???? yes you clearly stated its a bin lid and i stupidly didn't read your add properly .. i need the whole bin not just a lid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so any chance of getting a bin ????? "
i was fuming, there is no way you could confuse my listing for the entire bin and really was quite confused as to how they would mistake it for a bin afterall it was solely the lid in the photograph and description!!!
i replied with: "I'm completely bemused by this message. Nowhere in my listing did i state it was a bin, the exact opposite, if somehow you had difficulty with the description then my goodness the picture was of the exact item a bin LID! As for the question is there any chance of you getting a bin? Ehm.. no? i dont have one to give! And your other question i can answer very simply, as i stated in the auction, you may want a new binlid in chrome as others come in black and brushed steel and also the catch may have gone on the bin and be rendered useless without a new lid. "
i just got their response now  and i think its bang out of order to be honest and im not really sure as to what to do.. have a look at this and any advice on where/what i should do from here would be gratefully recieved.
"oh ok you obviously need the money more than me !!! fair enough nothing i can do as you have no address in your pay pal account .. this speaks volumes to me !! what goes around comes around .. if this is the best you can do to make a living .. god help us all ... i really hope you get whats comming get a life you sad pratt "

Well after all the sarcasm I would be saying tough! There are ways and means of securing a refund when you have cocked up which we all done but this is not one of them.0

I have to laugh at this! What aplonker for bidding on a bin lid, which is clearly just a bin lid in the description. They are probably getting nasty as they are so embarrased lol. I would do the same and keep the money.0

:rotfl: @ the buyer for not reading the description correctly & then complaining to you about it!
Has he given you feedback yet?
Like Hintza said - if we make a mistake there are ways of getting around it 'by being very nice'. Shame!
Just out of interest how much did the bin lid cost?Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
The attitude of the buyer in the first message would have put me of straight away. They could have taken a different approach. You've done nothing wrong. The buyer even admits that it was his/her own mistake and that your description clearly states it was just a bin lid.
I would ignore the nasty comments. You get buyers like this from time to time. Don't let it stop you selling on eBay.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

i bought it donkeys ago from ebay for £12 and it was in my front cupboard for long enough so very chuffed to get £33 for it!!
he has just left me positive feedback:
"complete smarta*se !!!! read ads very carefully!!!!!!!" :rolleyes:I LOVE MSE! :money:0 -
What an idiot. She should have asked politely and you had no obligation to refund her anyway, your advert was loud and clear.
At least she left you 'positive' feedback!0 -
Ohh...i'd leave him a negative. Say that he's an illiterate, abusive and unco-operative buyer.Laneyboo wrote:i bought it donkeys ago from ebay for £12 and it was in my front cupboard for long enough so very chuffed to get £33 for it!!

ha ha thats brighten my dad, a bin lid for 33.00 pounds he/she must be crying.... i'm still laughing now. i'd neg him/her that will cheer him up and dont forget to block the user id for future auctions. actually you could neg him with the words, if anyone can help buyer out with spare bin, he only has lid, id be most grateful.
you know yourve done nothing wrong, as i know there are some really dim people out there, i wouldn't have believed half the stories if i hadn't traded with them beforehand on ebay.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0
