Witnessed near accident this morning

Happily driving to work on the infamous A449 to Worcester, came off a traffic island and around the next corner there was a minivan parked up in a lay by, it had red/yellow diagonal stripes down the back.
The car at the front saw the van and (despite driving at the speed limit) hit the brakes REALLY hard, the car behind had to brake even harder and the two cars behind that skidded to a halt just inches from eachother, one car swerved/changed lanes into the path of a faster car, causing that one to e-stop.... I saw the lead car brake and instinctively knew what was coming, so I was OK.
But seriously.... ONE stupid minivan with vinyl stripe stickers nearly caused a massive pileup!!
And it's not the first time ive seen stripey vans being mistaken for speed camera vans!!
WHY DO THESE VANS HAVE THESE STUPID STRIPES!!!
But then again... If it had been a speed camera van, the effect would have been exactly the same!!

I think you miss the point...... Why do they insist on pretending to be the Police?
Additionally the driver at the front was travelling at the speed limit and simply panicked, as im sure many people have done before.

They are not " pretending " to be the police, they are just making their vehicle more visible, if some plonkers choose to slam their brakes on when they see it innocently parked, you cannot blame the van owner.0 -
^^ And if resprayed my Vectra white and I put these stripes all over the back, i'd be in trouble before I could blink.
