I had a smallish inheritance from my grandmother when I was married, didn't think twice about it and it was spent for the good of the family rather than just on me.....we had a wonderful holiday at Disneyland Paris, first class all the way!

The thought of it being mine and mine alone, never came into the equation, we were a partnership and all monies were shared (well apart from a few hundred each from our bonuses at work).
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I had a very large inheritance from my grandparents, and once the money came in my xh gave up work!!!

Needless to say we got divorced, and no you can't protect your inheritance in the event of divorce. What happened in my case though, was that it was taken into account in the financial settlement that I had made a much larger financial contribution over the years (13 years of marriage).

Another bored alt with nothing better to do than light the blue touch paper and feed it occasionally. Why would anyone have this as their first post?

Agreed....think it must be the start of the school holiday season....normally find that those initiating this type of thread are inadequate and have wet dreams about this sort of thing

What about setting up an account offshore in a tax haven or in Switzerland...the latter seems to be a secure favourite for lots of wealthy international crooks.....not that i'm calling you a crook!
