Bags of dried pasta and some stir-in sauces. Make sure the sauces are packed inside several carrier bags in case they burst in transit. You don't want oily tomato sauces over all your holiday clothes!

    i usually take:
    butter
cooked meats, packed with a skinny ice pack inside a towel
    bacon and sausage as above
    tins of tuna
    cheese
    packets of savoury rice
sachets of instant curry sauce and another for either a casserole or spag bol

the above should enable you to make meals for a few days, to help you not hve to spend much in the first few days of your hols while you work out the best places to eat etc

I'd just be a bit careful with the meat....I'm pretty sure you're not actually allowed to take such things in your suitcase. I know someone in Ireland who used to take a load of bacon and sausage to the USA in their suitcase but they were always worried incase they were stopped and had it confiscated.

when you are eating out lok out for set menus - less choiuce but way cheaper. Also it's usually much cheaper to eat out at lunch time than in the evening - might be worth having your biggest meal in the middle of the day

light things to carry (and quick to cook), as other people have suggested noodles, cous cous, cup-a-soups, different sauces in sachets - like colemans

    enjoy your holiday!
