^^ That was all going so well.

It all sounded like you were suspicious enough not to do anything daft.

Hooray, I thought, not everyone falls for it.
Then the bombshell appeared, "and then about a week later i noticed that exactly £69.50 had been debited from my account."

After all you said prior to that, you still went ahead and gave this cold caller, who rang you completely out of the blue, all your banking details??

You willingly gave this random bloke who rang you free access right into your account???

You really need to count your blessings, next time it may not be a Yes Loans caller but an out and out crook. He will clean you out of everything in your account..... with your blessing!!!!

Do you leave your front door wide open when you go out, and your car keys in the ignition when you go shopping.
That is exactly how you are controlling your bank account.

so youre saying that im stupid...?! When you apply for a loan, you always give some kind of bank details so they can check your credit one way or another, you dont expect a large company just to take money WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT. So Im not silly thank you very much. how ignorant & offensive you are 'apples'.
  • I have never taken a loan through Yes Loans.

The problem is that Yes Loans imply on the phone and in advertising that they are providing the loan. In fact they are a broker. The terms and conditions are often sent after card details have already been given and money removed from people's accounts.

Many customers are told that they can get a loan by Yes Loans staff but a few days later find they are either refused or are offered loans with obscene interest rates that they cannot afford. These loans are always with companies other the Yes Loans.

Of course people can be foolish and gullible when dealing with people like Yes Loans BUT that is why there needs to be protection for them. Not everyone is savvy enough to read the T&C's.

But you weren't applying for a loan! You were asking a broker to find a loan for you, and a broker does not need your bank account details - not at that early stage.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Please explain WHY any company requires your Bank Details to check your credit??

Have a go, pop onto Credit Expert and register for the free 30 days, does it ask you ANYWHERE to enter your bank deatails??

I'll save you the trouble.... NO IT DOESN'T.

Without ever entering ANY banking details, you can get access to your entire credit history.

As for your first question..... I'll leave you to answer that one.
You even said in your original post that you didn't even contact them, they rang YOU out of the blue...:cool:

Actually, yes it does. That's why you have to cancel within the 30 days. If you don't they take £7.99 a month out of your account.

The problem is that Yes Loans don't always let on that they are broker. They allow people to believe they are taking out a loan with Yes Loans.

Yes Loans work within the law, but only just.

Thats to pay for the service, not to see the credit report!

You are technically correct, however this is for subscription payment, not for compiling the credit report.

Bank details are not requested as part of the "Profile Info" which is the addresses you have lived at, date of birth, etc.....

New member here, found myself in a little bit of financial trouble recently and after having been rejected by my bank and other reputable companies decided to look at yesloans and other similiar services.

I think a lot of people are being pretty harsh stating about reading the T&C's etc Granted, I understand and will accept that anyone worth their salt should read these things before they make any agreement but as my title of this post implies people desperately needing cash don't always think things through.

I nearly got conned myself the other day after speaking to one of these companies; I was happily told I had been accepted for a £1000 loan and the money would be in my account within 24 hours.

Apparently all I needed to do was pass my bank details over so they could verify that I had a UK bank account, I told the fella on the phone that I wasn't prepared to do that but he insisted on telling me that it was for security reasons and my own protection.

Eventually the guy hung up on me and I then proceeded to ring the company back and tell them how disgraceful they were and how could they sleep at night.

The thing many people here are missing is that the majority of brokers that I have spoken to personally do not tell you they are brokers; they act and speak like they are the company providing the loans and ask for your details for it to be paid into your account.

Then they take their processing fee and usually refer you to a company that A.) Will reject your application outright or B.) Provide a loan but on completely different terms than requested (example I needed a £1000 loan over 12 months, got a letter of FLM loans saying they would provide £1000 over 36 months as long as I had a guarantor)

Stop being so harsh people, these guys are con artists and as such prey on people who need money straight away.
