    In reply to fozmcfc:

I mentioned previously that my wife approached YL for a modest sum. She, and I, have what we think are excellent credit records, but our approach was that we wanted to go through the early stages of application to see what was involved so that we could guide someone less worldly through the process when she made a proper application.

They came back to us saying that the amount was too small for them to handle - £4,500 - but they gave her the number for another company who dealt at those levels. The number was a Premium Call number - which of course, we never progressed.

my OH applied and had to give my account details as we dont have a joint nor a bank account in his name. They took the fee but after i called back and said the account wasnt in his name and that whoever took the money had basically stolen it. A long call took place and believe it or not they refunded the money the same day.

Still get the text and calls offering aloan but we wont be accepting.

Now while a few folk are screaming on about terms and conditions reading etc, can I just say this.

YES I read them, YES I followed them to the letter ah there thats out of the system.

Now! let me rephrase. After following the TERM and CONDITIONS to the letter ( replying in writing and with recorded delivery saying you do not want their services and giving them 30 days to refund the money) I do not have my money and a complaint has been lodged via phone first and then by a signed letter to the financial ombudsman in order to get my money back minus the £5 broker fee which I quite clearly read because in actual fact Im an educated man who can read.

Im not the only person in similar circumstances, no doubt Ill get the money back in cheque form after they have investigated it which can take 8 weeks of it gaining interest in their accounts.

So the call is the same, no more ramblings about terms etc in lamens terms people

    1. called them and cancelled in the correct way in writing
    2. after 30 days they are now in breach of their own T & Q's

Who will join me, and will the ramblers please simmer down.

Oh and just to put a cap on another ramble which hasnt started yet but I believe might. I only have a bad credit rating due to a financial argument with the bank I got my 16k loan at a crappy rate of 22% which I can quite comfortably pay off after 18 months so no I wasnt desperate for cash it was just nice to get it up front.

plus.... MANY OF US ARE NOT SHORT SIGHTED!

    trouser,
I am with you all the way. YesLoans clearly stated to me they would not be taking any fee from my account until I sent them the signed form giving them permission to act on our behalf. We made only one phone call to them and waited for the forms to arrive. We were not given a chance to read the T&C. Yet they still took £69, which we later noticed was the next day following the phone call. So they didn't even wait for us to receive the forms and their T&C before dipping into our money.

We got our money back after complaining to the ombudsman service and after nearly 10 weeks. Oh, and we also got the £5 back too because YesLoans admitted that in our case they shouldn't have done what they did at all and we had to charges to pay.

Glad you got your money back, Mike, but if you had not given them your bank details in the first place they could not have taken the money. This so basic I am really suprised that people don't see it.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

    Oh, so it's our fault?
I was under the impression (wrongly of course) that they are not thieves and common crooks. Apparently I was wrong. For that reason I back any plans to have them axed. They are unscrupulous thieves.

The reason we gave the m our bank details is that the guys on the phone told us this was needed to fill in the forms before he sent it out to us. He also assured us they wouldn't take any money until we had signed and returned this form to them. Any company that can't be trusted not to take your money like this shouldn't exist. Simple as.

We are not talking about the average guy on the street taking your money. We are talking about a supposedly regulated company that has to abide by some rules set out by the FSA, if not their own word.

Unfortunately, there are also many desperate people who are not thinking things through properly, maybe blinded by panic or who knows what else.

Fact is, these pond scum companies prey on such individuals and if 99% of the people who lose money to these gutter snipes just thought about what they were doing, the companies would vanish overnight.
