My boiler's 2 year guarantee is due to expire. The guy who did the annual service said it is fitted with the later PCB which are more reliable. is it worth taking out additional cover?Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems
Well at least i learn something on the way

We had one of these boilers fitted in 2007 under a government grant scheme from Warmfront. You get these with a 2 year warranty. Exactly one week after the 2 year warranty finished our boiler FAILED!!! for the first time.
We are pensioners and unable to afford to buy a better boiler system, so we have had to keep paying callout charges of £240 each time which is extortionate!!.
Since March 2010 we have had 3 breakdowns/callouts each costing £240. the 2nd callout was to replace a part that took just 10 mins roughly. Wish we could earn £240 in just 10 mins.
We got sick of this boiler ALWAYS breaking down and started looking at insurance policies to cover our systems. As our Boiler used to be a French one, now renamed "ideal icos" insurance companies WILL NOT cover our system as they know how unreliable they are.
Please stay well away from IDEAL ICOS (HE) BOILERS !!!!0 -
Phone Ideal and take out their own warranty. It is about £40/quarter.0
