Best way to complain to BT?

I do have one more question.
You say the PC is two years old, but you were running Windows 7.
Winodws seven was only in the beta stage then, Vista was the industry standard, if you have "upgraded" to windows 7 on a system designed to run vista then you are either more PC compliant than you make out, or your PC is not two years old.
In other words you do not know how to check your BIOS settings, bu tyou do know how to install a stand alone operating system..funny that..if you have loaded W7 on top of vista, that could be the source of your problem if and it's a big if the engineer turned off your PC inadvertantly.
You can recover your data from the hard drive, it is very easy and does not require a visit to a shop.
Remove the hard drive from the PC.
Install it in the PC you are using now.
Windows will detect it and assign it a drive letter
You can then search that drive for your data and copy it to the PC you are using.

Try the bios/cmos reset jumper on the motherboard or pull the battery out for a long while while the power is turned off.0

Why don't you just put the pirated copy of windows 7 back in the d drive and restart the PC, it will re-install windows over the present installation without deleting any other saved files.
To be honest if you don;t know how to get around this, I wouldn't advise you to muck around with jumpers.
And if you really think looking at the log will identify when and how the problem occured think again....try typing "event viewer" into your search box and you will see what I mean.

I see now. The BT engineer is judge and jury as to what software we have on our computers.
If he doesn't like it then he destroys the equipment.
It's nice to know a little bit about stuff but you are not ready to advise anyone.
ps wrong about pirate software.
Have another go. Don't forget spellcheck.
As a BT wannabe you obviously feel the need to support someone who has committed criminal damage.
No problem at all with this but you have absolutely nothing to ad to this thread so why do you sit there poking your nose in?
You are totally out of your depth in a grownup conversation.Do you have a leesonce for yer minkey?0 -

Heres something you may not wish to know.
PC's BREAK DOWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON, IT'S A FACT OF LIFE, LIVE WITH IT.
So anyway where do you get the BT engineer thing from.?
Is that perhaps because you have been saying almost the exact same thing on the BT forum ?
And saying someone has caused criminal damage is a serious accusation, I'd be careful what you say on open public forums.
As for a grown up converstion, I don't have a dead PC, never have had, because I am a PC engineer, not a BT engineer, but as you know so much and want to learn so little I will let you continue to dig this hole of self pity and sympathy that you so desire.
When you have completed your quest for a new PC from BT, start on your next one, crock of gold at the end of the rainbow perhaps ?. Or finding a Unicorn.
Good luck

"So anyway where do you get the BT engineer thing from.?"
er. I get mine from BT, do you knit yours?
As for you being a PC engineer.....I VERY much doubt it after listening to your very poor advice and your tantrums.
Go to other threads and sites, see how adults conduct adult conversations. They ask for, and offer, assistance to each other. Then come back and look again at your peurile (look it up) posts and then hang your head in shame.
The other guy was right, it IS like Corrie so, if it's OK with you, may I call you Hayley.
I said it before boy, you are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of your personal depth. Back in your box. AND, your spell-check has gone bump again.
