    LOL
We had a coal fired Rayburn,it was for cooking, heating the hot water and the radiators. Expensive to run,and dirty. But otherwise brill, could chuck wood on it and all the rubbish too.................. we still had to have an electric hob though, for cooking in summer.

I've checked with my OH, apparently his Grandma had a jubilee which was a cheap version of an aga. It still lasted her years and years!

What I lust after is one of these!

I do have the Hunter wellies, but mine are navy. After quickly wearing out my 10 quid Asda wellies once I got the chickens, I decided to invest in a good quality pair.

Giger - it is lovely and I wanted that too.

I have an Aga woodburning stove in the Snug - it was the closest I could get to a real Aga without a major house re-design, and a Rangemaster range fan oven (made by Aga so does that count?). No gumboots though!

I made jam with some very reduced plums last night and it is very, very good.

This is mine, the council put it in, not us ! But it sits inside th fire recess and you can't cook on top of it, which bugs me no end.

A Fantastic thread, reading with much interest. Trying to cut costs immensley so more dosh left for debtors and hopefully a week camping hol! My downfall....rushing whilst grocery shopping and putting too much rubbish in trolley. Looking for meal planners to stick to and making more home produce etc.

Well done to those for sharing ideas and experience...you are fab!
