The only patch I tried was NiQuitin - so I can't speak for the others, and I was fine on those.

If you last tried a while ago, they may have improved since then :)

Kicked the habit last month, it's been good so far

Try only smoking outside for a week, that seemed to work, kept putting off going out, so cut down to about 4 - 5 a day.

Used patches, but they kept sticking to my jumper, so gave those up too. It's mainly the activity I'm having problems with, something to twiddle with might be good. Or one of those inhilator(?) things.

    Good luck with it. Pud

Happy Birthday Mardatha, have a good one babe.

Lets get tomorrow over with and then start the New Year's Resolutions list....:A
  • Having to work today but just wanted to wish you all A Merry Christmas and thank you for your inspiration over the past months
  • I was one of the lucky ones who never started smoking, but a friend who's given up uses knitting or crochet as "something to fiddle with" - and, as she's now got 3 grandchildren, it's a great way of making pressies for them!

I'm also on my own this Christmas, have been for a few years. I spent years after looking after elderly relatives - the "best" Christmas was the one I spent in the local casualty with my aunt, there was nothing wrong with her and she went back to her sheltered accommodation to a turkey dinner, but I got home at 8pm and ended up having a tin of cream of tomato! And no matter what I cooked for Christmas dinner when they came to me, sonething was wrong for someone.... I celebrated the first year of being my "own woman" by going to the beach. Here, it was grey and foggy all day, but 25 miles away at the coast the sun was shining, and I had the beach, at Dundrum Bay in the shadow of the Mournes, to myself all morning, and then came back and cooked my goose.

Going anywhere is not an option today, as it's still bitterly cold and there's about 10in of snow here. But the morning sun is lighting up the trees in the local park with a pale pinkish tinge, and I'll probably go for a walk there later, and come back to a big bowl of the stew I prepared yesterday. I've a pile of DVDs, mainly BBC classic serials, and knitting, and plenty of wood for the stove, and several good books, so it's really a day for OS pleasures!

There's something to be said for being alone ...you can do what you like and don't have to do things just to please other people ! I think solitude is becoming a rare commodity in this day & age. have a cool xmas day pet!
