Reading that web site has made me realise that I'm so pleased we don't dress Old Style.
Trussed up like a chicken whilst cooking and cleaning....no thanks, I can't do any housework in a skirt, never mind a full length one with petticoats and waist pulled into 18"

It's nice to be able to pick the bits you want from history;)

NB it's really complicated - there's a huge amount of EU regs and you can get done by Trading Standards if you dont stick to them. It's not that easy and she can't sell it until she finds a chemist and gets certified -which naturally all costs money :( The best place to start is in a group like UKsoapers, on Yahoo groups. Theres a few Irish girls in there too.

Thanks Mardatha, I had a feeling it wouldn't be simple! I don't know what kind of stuff this lady makes but she wants to sell them at a market but not sure if she's had them assessed for saftety etc. Will pass on what you've told me, thanks.

He is currently looking at it. Says just a tiny mark that's all. skin is closed over it. That's the honey, its magic stuff. The honey plus my devoted nursing I've just told him. He isnt looking impressed. :)

Glad RV is doing well, you must have healing hands! :) Did you use the Manuka honey or ordinary stuff? I love honey but don't actually eat it - it makes a great homemade hair deep conditioning mask and have it with lemon for a sore throat/cold. My poor sister (who hates honey) is having loads of it for her cold at the moment, she reckon it works really well so is worth it.

It's Sainsburys Basics :D If he ever got a really horrible full-on diabetic ulcer then I'd buy Manuka. but this stuff has always worked fine, I use it for loads of things. Inc on toast with cinnamon, which is supposed to ward off the flu :D

My friend, who is a district nurse specialising in wound management, recently had an article published on the medical uses of honey. She had a diabetic chap who, because of his learning difficulties, had self-neglected to the extent that he weighed 35 stone  and had an ulcer so deep in his foot that the doctor had him scheduled for amputation. And my friend cured it with honey. Medihoney, admittedly, but honey nevertheless. The chap then had gastric banding to reduce his weight and is now hale and hearty and eternally grateful to my friend.

Honey is great stuff! Only wish I liked the taste of it - we have five hives and jars and jars of the stuff...

Don`t forget to make sure he`s had his tetanus jags. :D
Though, up this way at least, they don`t give boosters any more, just if you need one, and then it`s combined with polio for some reason! (I had polio vaccine at school on a sugar lump )

Good to know the cheaper stuff works too.

Great story CC ... lucky you with your own hives - do you sell the honey you don't eat?
