ZZ - thats a very good point, about fish. They kept them in ponds in the middle ages - you read about their "fish ponds" and fish traps. I wonder how you do a proper fish pond ...? Although not for me, I cant abide fish. Yeugh!

Apparently it was perch, pike etc. Aquired tastes.............some frinds of mine once owned a Tudor house,it had been a smallish monestry. It came with 8 acres of land and 3 fish ponds, where the monks used to keep fish. I like sea fish, salmon and trout.

Apparently monks bred fish for the table. All those ponds full of expensive koi carp would be very useful :rotfl: Mind you if I had to rely on DH to feed us with fish we would be eating tiddlers although he fishes at a like full of huge fish( you can actually see their fins above the shallow water) he has never caught one and if he did they have to be thrown back :) I personally think they are too clever to be caught, although he did catch a duck the other day - don't ask :p

Thanks for that never thought of using tealights! I've also struck lucky with a slowcooker..
I have a Weza its like a pedal powered generator,I was looking at what it could power during a powercut and realised if I could find a low enough wattage slowcooker I'd be able to use that! No fumes and endless different recipes :D:j
The cheapest Argos one fits the bill and I'm just checking some others out now including the two I already have I'm a happy girl

Zarazara I guess we both posted at once there!

D&DD boy you must be fit if you can pedal long enough to keep a slow cooker going - who needs a gym when you can just make a stew instead now that really MSE :rotfl:

DS3 LOVES it so that helps..he thinks its a game!
The Weza holds a charge so you only have to 'pump' now and again thankfully not constantly otherwise it'd be a real 'heart attack on a plate'!!
  • Never heard of WEZA - will have to look it up. Think I need one as well as mardatha and for the same reasons!

Ginny, I missed the carbon monoxide episode - hope DGS is fully recovered.
