I've got to give it to dragon934. If trust has broken down *that much* then I think it would be time to consider the relationship seriously. That kind of 'control' tends to mask a possessiveness and potential domestic issues and I think I'd need to consider much more than just having my emails read.
If your OH has physical access to the machine there is nothing much you can do in honesty. However, one thing springs to mind. Use Ubuntu by running it from a CD. Read your mail online with https at google (changing your password along the way), when done remove the CD and boot back to Windows nobody is the wiser. It's not difficult to do and I'm sure you'll get lots of help from folk here. If you can do this you'll wee wee all over your OH's attempts to spy. That'll make em fume.....
Other than that; consider setting up your own secure space with something like Truecrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/) perhaps on a USB stick and keep a file of complex usernames and passowrds there. Cut and paste usernames and passwords into logins - it pretty much defeats keyloggers and screen grabbers. Always use https for webmail. Personally I'd use a Ubuntu boot disk myself.0 -
Ah.... I see....
Well, if only I could prove whether or not he IS doing it!!!
Or maybe he just happens to be very intuitive and good at guessing.
Hmmm. Maybe your the one who needs the keylogger. that way you would be effectively counter-spying on him. you can get software to activate your webcam silently too. This is all very cloak and dagger though, so I can't say I'm happy advising this sort of behaviour between a married couple, but then if thats what you feel you need to do, then thats what you need to do. Invasion of your privacy is/can be a form of domestic abuse (not wanting to frighten or shock you) as its making you live on edge and come on this forum in desparation.
You need to decide on which course to take. The pro-active counter-spying technique or the non-technical way of confronting or speaking to someone like a charity. If you spy on him spying on you, will you be safe if he found out? You need to put yourself first. If your OH isn't violent or abusive it might be worth simply asking if he's been going through your emails, because sonebody has.0 -

Actually, i was just having a look at that point.
You can install Linux Mint (probably ubuntu too but Mint is easier) onto a USB drive http://www.pendrivelinux.com/run-linux-mint-9-from-a-usb-flash-drive/
That way you can essentially carry your PC around with you everywherePerfect on http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-132-CS&utm_source=froogle
Also if you use Firefox HTTPS Everwhere!

That would pretty much stop him in his tracks - very small learning curve for the OP and I'm sure, if it's too much to figure, someone on eBay has one for a couple of quid :-)0 -
There's been 'silly' little things, such as him using a phrase which I only ever use when chatting online to my best mate... something I've never heard him say before.
The fact I know he's good with computers.
The fact I once found spyarsenal on my pc (couldn't prove how it got there). I obviously removed it!
Him asking about a friend's relationship (out of the blue) when she'd just broken up with the chap, and I hadn't mentioned it.
However, I can't say for sure he's doing it....It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice0 -
You guys really are a mine of excellent information. Thank You!
It'll take a while to digest everything (!)
I don't have a webcam and really don't want to lower myself to spy on him.... but will look into everything I've been told...!!!It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice0 -
What you *could* do is start an imaginary conversation discussing leaving him because you are sick of him spying.... set a date and everything..... that should make his bottom start to contract :-)0

On a slightly different tack, your FB messges/activities can leak out via a friend of a friend and they could get back to your partner easily w/o the use of any s/w. People often like to brag about what they know !
Just a thought.0 -
Have mentioned in 'private' emails about my suspicions, so if he IS reading them he'll know I'm onto him....
Ironically, he may well have read my messages on this forum?!It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice0
