Nobody is saying don't pay for parking, as you well know.

    Er, I am.

I also thought that was your advice about only paying the owner the equivalent of the loss incurred by you parking there, which as I've said is zero, unless it's the last space.

You are confusing paying to park on a car-park, and the excessive penalty charges demanded by the PPCs for breaking their "rules". The former is OK, the latter isn't.

It's not illegal to park and not buy a ticket, so why would you buy a ticket if you don't need to??

As a common courtesy, and to show that you are better than the PPCs with their unfair demands. Anyway, in most supermarkets you don't have to pay to park.

Why pay for tickets to park ? Simple as I stated elsewhere, if you abuse parking and not pay anything and that is repeated enmasse , the person or company owning the land would not be under any obligation to keep it open, i've got no problem paying a fair amount to park, I will never pay a scam company trying to rip me off for an obscene amount of money for example arriving back late by a few minutes, their loss of use of that space does not come anywhere near what they charge.

Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

If you arrive back late 'by a few minutes', do you buy another ticket from the machine so that the landowner hasn't suffered??

Yes, if you have to pay, that's all you owe the car-park owner. Not the extortionate sums that they demand. In a free car-park it doesn't matter and no loss has been suffered.

:huh:I was actually asking if anyone bothers buying a fresh ticket when they are a few minutes late getting back [in order that the landowners doesn't suffer].

IMO most people just get in their car and leave.

Strange that most people who say they buy a ticket to park [on moral as opposed to legal grounds], would still 'steal' a few minutes without paying at the end.

if i'm staying yes I would, but if i'm leaving well no because their actual loss would be pennies, these machines don't accept anything other than another 1 or 2 hours parking, as mentioned if they charged on exit instead of entry it would be a better reflection on your use of the space. Out of interest would you pay for another couple of hours of parking if you were leaving ?

  • Strange that some people who say they have nothing to do with the private parking industry [on moral as opposed to legal grounds], would keep posting in favour of these scammers.
