Car Tax

Here are the bus and lorry rates.
Here are the car rates.
The lorry rate of £165 (not £160) is for private vehicles.
Commercial lorries appear to be £350.00 p.a.
Buses seem to be up to £500 p.a.
The X3 tax is high because it is a high polluter.
Could it also be that buses and lorries do something useful but an X3 doesn't?0 -
Does anyone know why an X3 car has a yearly road fund licence fee of over four hundred pounds yet buses and artic lorries pay £160??
whats you question?
why you didnt research the duty costs on your car?
or why other vehicles have different duty rates?
did you know theres even cars that dont pay any tax?0 -

lol
Because they kick out tons of crap into the environment?
I have no sympathy
Wannabe a wannabe, then pay the price or get a smaller car (they park on the kerb outside the school just as well).
People like other people to think they are well off and can afford these things, but their credit cards swell under the pressure. Gotta make sure you can afford to run a car before you buy it.
Oh and it's not "road tax", it's "Vehicle Excise Duty" and not a penny of it goes into the roads. I think someone here mentioned that road tax was abolished in 1936? (??)“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

While the X6 storms home with the award for "most pointless car on the road".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Only if you believe the global warming theory
Another school of thought could be that the Gov are using the "green" issue as a way of extracting more dosh from the motorist but that's a whole different debate!
The answer to the question is an X3 pays more VED because the Gov decided it should!Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

Oooooo small car syndrome?
Nothing wrong with having a large 4x4, they look well and are pretty luxurious (X3 is pretty poor off-road though).
The amount of road tax is pretty scandalous though - buy a pick-up and you get commercial tax at £200 per yearMy road tax is now lower than on my old (smaller) motor.
Ignore the do-gooders who run something particularly nasty like the Toyota Pious and think they're holier than the rest of us.
VED v Road Tax? Well the old War Ministry is now called the Ministry of Defence (but we last had to defend our shores in 1940). It's still a tax you have to pay to keep your motor on the road ergo Road Tax. Simples0 -
