Why does a persons car choice cause such hostility, is it the old green eyed monster again, does the missus force you to drive a little tin box and is it affecting your libido's?
Or does the proletariat believe that a citizen daring to be an individual should seek permission from the people's court and justify their bourgeois behaviour.
For goodness sake get over your petty envious selves.
Having driven various X3's the 3.0d version especially is quite a pocket rocket, and the 4WD makes for safe full power progress in all weathers that would see FWD cars torque steering and wheelspinning to nowhere fast.
I wouldn't own one meself but that's a personal thing, i daresay the average X3 owner wouldn't want my pick up either.
The motorist is about the only cash cow left, the great leveller will be the inevitable road pricing scam, VED is just a side issue and all anyone can do is try to beat the system and keep away from the highest groups, not always easy when the goal posts shift around.
lol i drive a 3.2 petrol :rotfl:
however i researched the costs before buying
green eyed about an X3? um not in this lifetime0 -

Personally I don't care what car an individual drives, they all end up in the same traffic queues on the motorways travelling at 10mph.
However one of the posters made a valid point. When you buy a car you check out the costs of running it. There is little point in belatedly whining about the fact that the road tax is high after the purchase.
Personally I would ramp up the prices on the low MPG cars to an extortionate level, this is based purely on the fact that there are diminishing resources and people need to avoid wasting them in an effort to compensate for their tiny di*ks :-)
Jeremy Clarkson needs a seriously good kicking, as does his pet dwarf.0 -

Exactly. Also an A380 doing zero miles annually will kick out a hell of a lot less co2 than a Fiesta doing 15,000 miles annually.
Conclusion: Tax Fiestas off the road, lower X3 road tax.0 -

More small car syndrome? (what do you drive?)

It's not envy, it's just a bunch of us that f*cking hate pretentious tw*ts who drive around bullying other road users and thinking they're king of the road.
I saw a young chap (in a business suit) in a black X5 taking racing line's through a country road near Kinver (A village full of 2nd homes, BMW's, Porches, Mercs, Bentley's, etc etc etc), he nearly took out an old Ford Fiesta with mom and 3 kids on their way back from school, he swerved out of their side of the road and just about managed to avoid planting it into the wall of a small cottage.
I was behind him, but if he'd hit that car i'd have beat the living crap out of him just for being a complete knob! as would the owner of the small cottage who heard/saw the whole thing!
The X3
"Savagely disappointing compact SUV that will leave hoardes of trusting buyers trying to figure out how BMW got it so wrong. Rides like a pogo stick on a cattle grid." and "It can’t go off-road and can barely cope on it. What’s the X3 for again?" and"About as cool as the Argyle sweater your colour-blind auntie bought you, worn in the height of summer while working in a bakery. In Uganda."
So that leave's only one reason to buy one.... Status
(I love the honesty and way with words lol)

and 4WD means sweet f*ck all when you've got standard all-seasons tyre's (or even sports tyre's on some of these 4x4's).

I've got a set of winter tyre's waiting to go on my Vectra for next winter, I can't wait til it snows and I can leave all those smug !!!!!! standing“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The X3 isn't a very good motor at all (wouldn't dream of buying one).
No need for the foul language though - just makes it appear you lack the intelligence to make a point in good English.0 -

I can see the point you are trying to make, but just to be awkward:
1.6 TDCi Fiesta - 98g/km (*3 = 294g/km)
3.0i Sport Auto - 293g/km
Not exactly like for like but still

Buy a bus? At least its functional.
Taxed for pollution and taxed for being ugly and a bit silly because there are better alternatives.
You bought it because you wanted it?
I bought a rangerover to tow a caravan to cornwall and back a few years back, Fuel ?? i just filled it when it was empty.
