Would you be standing there all day to see if I came back? It makes no difference at all. And this site is all about encouraging people to go and clear shelves, who is to blame for that? It's all everyone wants to do these days.Yes Your Dukeiness0

you could do that but I think by imposing the limits they're trying to discourage people from doing it
Have you read it? They are not imposing limits on you buying a qty at all - that is the point - I've no idea if they have a limit instore. maybe someone else will know. They told me they were quite happy to let me order 16 but I could only have 4 at a time delivered. So they are doing it so you pay more on delivery. No limits on how many you can by in total.
What's more, they are obviosuly doing to make money on the postage but they are so stupid that a) they are losing out because because they get charged per card transaction and b) they even sent 2 separate couriers with the stuff. If they wanted to make money they could have sent it on one - and the same - courier. But no, clearly they are too stupid to do that.
I could have bought 400 if I wanted but I would have had to place 100 orders - let's not hope they promote themselves a 'Green' company.
And for each order you have to pay £4.95 delivery.0 -
Oh, apparently they are proud of their reduction in carbon emissions despite sending 4 couriers to my house for the order:
We are continuing our big new job of reducing our impact
on the planet. Our work is now focused around three
areas – carbon, community and sourcing. Our highlights
so far are:
– For a second year our mileage has continued to reduce
by a further 4% (equivalent to 1,000 tonnes of carbon)
this year, even though we continue to open more stores
and grow as a business
– Since introducing double deckers in late 2007, our
mileage has reduced by 15% to 21 million miles.
We have also increased our fl eet of double deckers
to 60, allowing us to transport even more goods in
fewer journeys
– We replaced shop-fl oor lighting with a lower energy
alternative, contributing to a reduction in CO2
– Energy saving initiatives to reduce consumption
resulted in a saving of £766,183. The reduction is
equivalent to over 3,000 tonnes of carbon
– We recycled 40% of our 20,000 tonnes of waste
generated in stores, distribution centres and head
offi ce and are constantly reviewing how we can
increase this percentage
– We carried out a successful pilot of waste paper
recycling at DC2 and associated stores. This saved
almost 100 tonnes from being sent to landfi ll, which
also saved £8,500 of landfi ll costs0 -
Thats interesting and I can see why you are fustrated, would they have the same policy if you wanted to buy 16 different items? Is there anything in their T&Cs that states no more than 4 identical items at a time? Does it only apply to discounted/lostleader items?
I can understand if it was a fantastic offer instore and you were buying all the items on the shelf, as it would not seem fair to other customers, but online they had over 500 is stock, if they have that many at that price, why should they bother if you want 16?!? You would think they would be happy for your custom!0 -
Supermarkets often have "Max 3 Per Customer", or whatever on their deal items. Seems fair to me.
Otherwise you get people taking the mick and buying hundreds of bargain items and sticking them on ebay, deprieving everyone else. I've seen it happen from grabbit posts on here. People actually brag about snapping things up and making a quick buck on ebay.0 -

:j Oh my, I am just happy that someone gets it. Thank you. I kind of felt I was banging my head against a brick wall trying to explain it.
And ixy yes, I do agree with you totally but there will always be that attitude from some - be it whatever offer. if it is not for eBay then it'll be for car boot sales. I was not clearing the shelves at all - there was 500 left and no-one else was buying them that day. In fact, I could have had all 16 delivered to the store and walked out with them in one go (well, not really they were too big for me to carry that many anyway) so I would have done the few trips.
It is just annoying and frustrating and all rather bizarre. I could not get out this week so delivery was my only option.0 -
I work for them but I find it very strange that such a limit is imposed, haven't personally heard of it and I would be happy to sell 16 screenings to a customer instore! There's no problem with bulk buying as we can do special customer orders which dont affect the stock on the shelves!
I havent seen the cost price of the screenings, but I dont think the are being sold at a loss so I wouldn't see the problem with making my store money by selling them! :j0 -

I guess this is another way of getting 4 lots of postage out of you at £4.95 a time.
Hardly worth the bother for them as there would be very little left of the £4.95 after the actual delivery costs were taken into account.
They are sold out now so delivery charge or not they did not last long.0 -
They did not sell hardly any until I posted the link on here. At least I got mine.
This is what I was trying to say though, there was no advantage to them selling just 4 at a time as they came on different couriers. The bloke told me that it happened often, that they would be following the Parcelforce man delivering a parcel from them.
Anyway, thanks for clearing that up for me aaron, that is most appreciated. Thank you.0 -
Are you high up in stock control to see costings?
Costings are freely available on an application where we check delivery sizes, it tells you there's 6 of something coming in at a total cost price of £X.XX and retail price of £Y.YY so you can divide by 6 to find the costing per item, then compare it to the retail price, this is how I found out Herbal essence shampoo's on a promo for 97p is a loss leader with a cost price of over £1! :eek:0
