Nice one about the knitting patterns. I find these days that there are patterns for pretty much everything on the net.

Have rung HR to ask about my missing increment. They are going to ring me back...

    ...I forgot to ask when...

Nothing from HR, but other than that this has turned into a productive day.

DH has found us a new car - and exactly what he wanted too! DS had a little drive round the block in it too and approves! :D DD is out as usual so she will be last to celebrate although it's partly for her sake we've got this - we can afford to insure her to drive this one, whereas the old one was too big.

As for me, I got Mum's newspaper prepayment sorted out so I don't have that one to think about again this quarter. I've filed some stuff and although I still have lots to do, I'm making progress. The woman from pensions rang me about the meeting tomorrow and left a message: it appears the seeing Mum bit isn't the main thing. They need to be sure she exists etc. but apart from that I think it's about making sure she isn't getting any benefits she shouldn't. I have the file of her finances but unfortunately am still unable to print out the Bank Statements. I can provide old ones (though I don't see what the point would be) so if the printer is still playing up by the time I go to meet her I will offer to log in on a public computer and show the income details online. Can't do more than that.

Another useful day though quite long so I need to catch up on sleep tonight. I'm at a women's day at church tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to (past ones were well worth while) then I'm working Saturday night and Sunday night.

I had the meeting with the woman from Pensions, which turned out not to have to involve Mum after all. I seem to have found all the necessary documentation and from now on will be able to handle pension matters on Mum's behalf. Before now they have just been ticking over. After this I had a relaxed afternoon with Mum and since then haven't done much apart from shop for dinner, start another load of laundry, play on the computer and watch 'The Hunt for Tony Blair'. Dinner was quite MS too: tuna pasta followed by spiced bread pudding. Tomorrow will probably be calorie-laden unless I'm careful so I had better report back!

Yet another good day on Saturday! The women's day was very useful. There were maybe around 200 people there but I met a friend, did some catching up and agreed to meet up - another for my 'people to keep up with'! She's someone I've been friends with for years and we see things similarly so we decided to re-start a support system we used to have. :T:T:T

Among other things I also went to a seminar on thinking patterns which I thought might help me overcome some negative thoughts and it has certainly given me material to work with. I also managed not to eat pudding, though I had toast after I got home which might negate a bit of the good work. :D

Worked overnight, slept till afternoon and have been mooching about at home until my next shift starts.

Money has been spent but I'm happy about how I spent it and it was within what we can afford, so that's okay. :)

Today was a 'rest day' and in fact that's what I di most of the time... so tired I fell asleep for a second or so on the computer when I got home but it didn't last becasue falling forward woke me! :D

Fed the multitudes again tonight which is fun and makes budgetting later in the week what you might call 'more interesting'. Other than that I have been trying to catch up on missed piano practice which is not nearly as effective as doing some every day.

I also pointed out to my manager that sending three of us on a course on Wednesday is going to cost the organisation something in terms of travel time and fares - I don't think she spotted that I was hoping to have it put off! It was worth a try ;) and tomorrow I will plan the journey and make sandwiches - wish I hadn't left my flask in Mum's old house as I would quite like to take soup as well, having seen the weather forecast.

The course went okay and I was nicely headed for an NSD complete with packed lunch (NSD unless you count £35 in refundable travel costs of course) but then I bought a bar of choc and from then on the evening has been spendiferous and interesting.

Arrived home without too many adventures and even managed to negotiate Leeds station with a semblance of savoir faire, which isn't too bad considering the size of it and the fact I don't know one end of it from another. Pushed open the door at home to be greeted by DS2 telling me to go round by the back (where there is, incidentally, no road and no lighting but quite a lot of obstacles strewn across the lawn). I didn't argue too much as I could see what appeared to be the contents of a kitchen cupboard all over the floor. By the time I got to the back door it had occured to me to ask if anyone was hurt but the human damage was limited to a bruise on DH - which is thankfully nothing when compared to what the unexpected descent of a wall cupboard can do to anything in its way.

So tomorrow I will be making an insurance claim - but it's one of those incidents which puts things in proportion. The cooker, wall cupboard and a few smaller things are destroyed but they can be replaced. What came to mind was a quotation from Psalm 91 - 'A thousand may fall at your side but... it will not come near you'. How did the cupboard not fall onto DH who was standing in front of it?

We discovered that the damage extended to blowing all the non-lighting circuits, so we couldn't use the landline, hoover up glass, cook, etc., and were faced with the storage heating potentially going off overnight. DH went to set the fuse right and found it mysteriously wouldn't go back. DS1 drove me down to T*sco for a dustpan and brush (of course ours was missing) and a mobile top-up as DH was using my dwindling credit to ring a friend for info about an electrician. They recommended someone from church who came round at once and fixed it - discovering as he did so that one of the cables needed to be made safe, which he's now done. We are going to have to replace a socket and he'll do that for us too, but not tonight!

Incidentally I discovered the electrician's card has another Psalms reference on it: Psalm 121. I looked it up and had another surprise. :):):)

The glass has now mostly gone though I'm not making any guarantees as bits of wine glass keep turning up in unexpected places. We are not attempting to do anything with the remains of the cooker until I've spoken to insurance. The dining room floor has become a temporary food cupboard! A lovely friend has texted with a wonderful offer of help. The dust is settling... possibly literally.

All in all an interesting evening. :D

I once had a kitchen cupboard leap off the wall for no reason and it did make a racket as it fell. Luckily nothing was in it's way and it landed on the floor.

Loving the bible references, makes me go and check what they are :)

glad everyone was safe and sound. I had a cupboard which made a bid for freedom but thankfully i caught it before it escaped too far and screwed it back on.
