Forgot to say: guilt trip yesterday as the chicken carcass from last Sunday was still in the fridge and had to be chucked out. What a waste. The week before I turned the chicken into four meals: roast, soup, sandwiches and pie if I remember rightly.
Am getting sick of chicken, LOL.
This week's chicken has been roasted so maybe pie tomorrow. Mmm!
Hi Miggy
Not been around much this week but had to pop on to talk about ChickenI have been cooking mine in the slow cooker recently and it just falls off the bone and seems to go so much further. But I have been very bad and have wasted 2 carcasses now
Need to get organised and make stock so that I can have yummy soup.
And you have to keep up the piano lessons. You are a busy Mum, a working woman and a carer for your Mum so you need something for you
Ani - Is there no end to your talents???
Sorry to hear about the rabbit

I have to confess, i'm not a naturally talented musican, either. Well, thats the way i see it.
I saw a tv programme some time ago, discussing the theories of ' turning' , ( or brainwashing ),creating, whats the word? i'm too tired, if you like, very young children into musicians, which i have to say, is what happened to me. Hence my lifetime struggle with music and not wanting to be a musician, and always feeling a failure. It comes from being something of a ' created ' child prodigy, and been locked in the front room and forced to practise the piano and violin for hours a day, entered into music competiions etc, etc, etc.from 4 years of age. And hence the question as to whether i really want my fiddle back from the pawn shop, or not.
But unfortunately, music has always been such a huge part of my life and soul.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

And then you have people like me who wish that they had been forced to learn an instrument. I love music, all sorts of music, and would love to be able to play.
Interesting that you call it a fiddle - Do you play it as a fiddle or a violin? I know which I prefer:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Ani, you remind me of the line in the musical (Fiddler on the Roof, I think) (or maybe something totally different - not sure my sleepy brain is processing at normal capacity) where there is an older married couple whose relationship was arranged.
"Do I love him? Well, we've been married 30 years, I guess I do."
It's like me with languages: hopeless at school and have a *failed* French A level to my name: I was scared stiff in lessons and it wasn't the language I would have chosen if I'd had the option... (I'm the least linguistic of a family who between three of them speak/spoke English, French, Spanish, Italian, Esperanto, Latin, German, Egyptian Arabic and Mandarin, not to mention some Russian, Hebrew, not sure what else)... yet now I have the legacy of enough French to hold a basic conversation, however laughable it may be to listeners, and I treasure it. It's mine. It's a little step on a road I would have liked to have taken.
Your music is yours now. You don't have to be the shown-off prodigy, you can just have your own relationship with it. Nobody is going to ask you to play D Flat minor or the Minute Waltz. You can just enjoy or not bother.
And in case I forget to say later - I hope the fish & chips is the best ever! Expect they will be... oooo, I could eat a chip right now...Miggy

Ah, but you don't necessarily love something, just because its a long relationship.
I never was the show off prodigy. I'm much more shy and retiring :rotfl:
Well. Performing, creased me up, anyway, the same as it does many musicians.
I hope the fish and chips is the best ever, too. This could be the biggest anti climax ever, knowing my luck.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

You misheard me, I said shown-off, I wasn't casting nasturtiums.
As to the music, if you and the fiddle have been having what amounts to a trial separation, you've still brought it back into your life. I would have suggested you give yourself a break from it if you feel the relationship's a bit forced, but I know fiddles need to be played.
Just a thought - I think your conflict is with your parents, not the instrument?
Am so glad you can't hear my efforts, music-wise. Far from fluent. :eek:Miggy

NSD - apart from spending some of Mum's money on her behalf, but that doesn't count.
Very tired, having done a couple of nights, and need to get myself to bed before I get beyond sleepy and end up in a waking pattern influenced by 9-7.30 shifts.
DH showed me the plan for separate bank accounts for Direct Debits, cash and savings. Hope it works!Miggy

Oh and...
Took a bag of scone mix to work and cooked a batch of 24 instead of making myself a night-time meal. Scones seem to be more digestible than ordinary food in the middle of the night for some unknown reason. It also helped use up some dried fruit.
Trouble is the scones are tempting so I've already eaten rather too many. The mix isn't all that good, though, and I'm quite capable of making much tastier scones from scratch, so when this lot's gone I'd better not succumb to another.
I'm giving myself a pat on the back for:
using up some scone mixture
using up some fruit
not buying scones (no, can't claim credit for that, I was only inspired to cook because the shop had run out of cheapy scones when I was looking for some)
having scones left to freeze for next time.
It's small, but it's progress, which is more than can be said for my waistline. I have to put the brakes on and get strarted on some weight loss!Miggy

Just goes to show how you can misread what is written, especially when you are tired.
I've being having a trial seperation for some time, now. Its working quite well!
