Mmm, yesterday's list looks impressive but I will admit the kitchen was only tidied as far as necessary.
We have grey weather today... and a day off from work. There are bags of baked goods in the kitchen now after last night's efforts but I still have a number of catering-sized packs of bread mix and similar stuff which I had calculated would be used by January! I still haven't the freezer space to batch-bake large amounts so I will just have to be organised and do it a little at a time. I noticed Tesco are selling off an over-buy of Homepride plain white flour at 50p a bag (the joys of pancake day!) which is currently cheaper than their cheapy flour (by all of 2p) so I bought a couple of bags. It doesn't help the overflowing larder but does help the purse. I can also see signs of space on the baking ingredients shelf, and used up the last of the cherries in scones last night, so I must be winning. All these lovely ingredients are only worth having at all if they feed people and are still edible by the time they get used, after all!
That reminds me - there is some rather ancient mince meat that's looking a bit dry. I don't think it's worth investing in matching alcohol to revive it: I wonder if a spot of apple juice would do, if used in short order?Miggy

I have done nothing with the mincemeat but:
(drum roll please!)
I have brought Mum's finances up to date and have a cheque from her to cover what I've spent! ALSO, we ended up talking about the Power of Attorney, which I thought would upset her but she is not only calm but accepting and her emotion seems to be mainly surprise that it has taken so long. I didn't explain that I've been putting it off for various reasons; I'm just glad that she remembers and it doesn't seem to bother her.
Anther store cupboard day: I used some veg, dried pulses and the remains of Sunday's gammon to make a very chunky soup and we enjoyed it. More space in freezer and cupboards! Less money out of the bank.
(There will be more in the Bank, of course, once the cheque goes in).Miggy

Well, the weather was fantastic today but I slep through a lot of it! Not too sorry though as the night was beautiful and of course I was awake through that. Frosty and clear with a full moon and the birds in full spring voice at 4.30am!
(It would have been too cold if I had to be out for more than a short while but that wasn't the case).
Working overnight could be a good money-saver on my part: I was asleep while the shops were open and also if I can limit what food I take with me, I can use stuff up and yet didn't have the nibbles so might just lose some weight.
I can well believe there was snow on the tops. There was beautiful glittering frost on the bin when I took the rubbish out at about 5!Miggy

Nights still working their magic - but now to get back to normal for a day shift on Monday! Am really hoping my colleague will swap nightshifts with me so I can do two together next weekend and not one on Tuesday, the day after an 8-hour day shift and an evening out with friends!
I'm feeling short of sleep now as I only got about 4 hours, but spent an hour or so working in the garden this afternoon which was fun and reasonably productive. We have some overgrown conifers (not Leylandii) and have managed to reduce them a little without ruining them. This still means the trees are winning but just not by as great a margin. Other than that I found there was rather more undergrowth than I'd anticipated. There is now a little less.
And - no spends by me today!Miggy

Working nights is DEFINITELY good for the NSDs! However, not working today - or tonight - so have been buying. This isn't good for the waistline eithr - why does so much chocolate seem to be on special offer right now? Okay, no one MADE me buy it.
:D

Working nights is still good for the purse, though not for the body clock.
Still enjoying it, though.
I'm thinking along the lines I was trying to develop when I first started this diary: streams of income come into it somewhere. Maybe that's because we have an 18th birthday in the family in a few days!
Time for bed.Miggy
